AMD Navi 23 ‘NVIDIA Killer’ GPU Rumored to Support Hardware Ray Tracing, Coming Next Year

Pretty sad when it comes to an almost religious affiliation for a brand and can't even poke fun at or criticise their preferred brand and see anyone saying anything negative as "the enemy" no matter how objective their comment is and no matter their position on any other brand automatically seen as fanboys of the main opposing brand.

I dont mind Nvidia fans, they dont know any better anyhow.
I bought AMD stuff now for years and been happy with it.
Zen3 was planned 3 years ago for me to upgrade mboard, ram and cpu.
The recent Big Dog Navi breakthrough was just a nice twist which will be interesting to follow

This is a very very different AMD from a decade ago, they are rapidly gaining CPU mindshare (i think thats fair to say) and everyone is looking forward to Zen3.
Go back 3 or so years, could you honestly think back then that AMD would become cpu leadership? Well thats whats happened.

Nvidia is not as stupid as intel, we can see that with the pricing on these new parts - they are trying to fend AMD off already and it may work. But that depends on what RTG push out.

Yea the UK Christians tried crusades nine of them and they all failed.
But the fun thing about religion in hardware once things change like you know 100% faster amd hardware in laptop then people stop praying and buys the fastest and since Ryzen built mindshare as we seen,w ell looks good for amd atm

The UK didn't exist at the time of the Crusades. The crusades were not an Anglo centric affair, it was very complex and was in the context of the expansion of many other regional empires and oppression 9f Christians. Interesting stuff but definitely not a failure of "UK Christians".

AMD are a FAR more capable Semiconductor designer than people think they are, and now they have had some R&D monies for a couple of years.

Yes I like their willingness to push technology forward and try new ideas. Sometimes they are a bit too far ahead of the market.

It needs to be twice as fast as 5700XT to hit the rumoured 3080 performance. IMO it does need to compete at that level.

Yeah I think it may get near to that but not twice as fast on all benchmarks. If its near the 3080 but way cheaper, I would be happy with that. I dont really like shelling out over half a grand each GPU upgrade, I cant justify it.

brand loyalty never made any sense, i have regularly switched between brands and had no remorse.. value proposition is all that matters.
folks need to appreciate that brand loyalty is a one way street, brands don't reciprocate
i generally like to rub it into apple acolytes, just for kicks.. and have a good laugh later

I wonder if there's a longer have being played here? Do Nvidia think AMD are coming for them in the same way as Intel? AMD do appear to have some momentum and much better management these days. Now they have many strings to their bow it's enabling AMD to be much more competitive. This is going to be very healthy for the PC space. The only issue I see is having the funds to keep up with the pace of change!

Edit: typo

I'm sure that Jen's huge dropping of price compared to the 20xx series is because he's realised he's a naughty boy and got caught pulling everyone's trousers down and is filled with remorse and has nothing whatever to do with potential competition.

I doubt the 3070 is actually going to beat the 2080ti in regular gaming tbh. The slides just like typical marketing propaganda to me.
There are benchmarks on YouTube already my dude, go watch, it is faster in most games by a few frames, one game was a lot faster and a couple it's a few fps under

Yeah I don't see him as the repentant type :) To be fair he's very good at what he does. My brain just doesn't work like that, far too honest to make money!

3 years ago I knew this chip be good.
Its why I waited to upgrade mboard 3 years even though I upgraded each time new zen cpu was released.
They had to push faster and better especially when Intel was stuck on 10nm fiasco.
Was obvious to me

Nice deflection not taking responsibility for the failures of your fellow ancestors

Jensen gets away with anything though. If it turns out to be nowhere near a 2080ti and only beats it only at 4k with raytracing running 31fps nobody will say anything. When AMD claim "it's an overclockers dream" and it's not.. It's an overnight meme.

No different to tdp and heat either. AMD make a card that requires 300w and the usual Nvidiots come out mocking the hell out of it finding every meme possible playing on the power and heat issues calling it a disaster. Nvidia bring out a 350w card at extortionate pricing and those same Nvidiots get the tissues out fapping over how incredible the card will be and how much power will be used. All of a sudden the electric bill isn't an issue.

Probably like the 2080(S) in newer games it will pull away from the last gen high end while in older games a more mixed story.

It is all about what you do with that power - if AMD comes out with a card that is as fast or faster while using less power then fair game - if a card is using it to sit at the top another story entirely.

It isn't like it was any different when the tables were turned either with the FX series, etc. anyhow.

Lets keep all of the self-hate politics out this thread. Yuri Bezmenov warned us about that crap, "Stop helping communists"..... This is not the place for re-education.

It does sound incredibly hypocritical BUT...there is a difference; Nvidia have always typically managed to produce more efficient cards. If AMD manage to match a 3080 and do it using less power then feel free to mock nVidia but i seriously doubt they will.

I won't mock either, couldn't care less. I just find the double standards hilarious in this forum, the same names appear in the AMD section time and time again reminding everyone how much they worship Nvidia regardless of whatever they launch or how bad it is. Complete brainwashing at its finest. It's like everyone grabbing the tissues at how incredible the value is in the 3080.... Its a £650 GPU FFS :confused:

https://www.techpowerup.com/review/asus-radeon-rx-5700-xt-tuf-evo/28.html

5700XT: 100% (1440P)
2080TI: 142% (1440P)

Big Navi: 190% to 230%

2080TI Normalised: 100%
Big Navi: 145% to 162%.

This is faster than a 3080, this is a 3080 <> 3090.

The 3090 has 25% more shaders than the 3080, the 3080 is about <35% faster than the 2080TI.

Is the maths here correct?

IE If:
5700XT gets 100fps (100%)
2080Ti gets 142fps (142%)

Big Navi gets 190 - 230 (190% - 230%)

That would mean:

48 divided by 142 = ~33% faster than the 2080Ti
88 divided by 142 = ~62% faster than the 2080Ti

So wouldnt that (if the 1.9-2.3 times 5700xt is true) make it anywhere between 33-62% faster than the 2080Ti?

Edited - typeod one of the figures
