I suspect you and me are in agreement in being thankful nvidia have existed whilst nobody else is bothered about pushing the envelope for graphics. Perhaps we agree on something after all.

Nope. I never said that and i don't agree. nVidia are not alone or solely responsible for anything.

nvidia are not the only innovators and i'm as grateful for AMD existing as i am nVidia. I believe that's clear enough?

He didn't say it was, he said "Nvidia were the ones to market it hard"

Yeah he said that but he also used more general terms in previous posts. make no mistake, he thanks nVidia for everything he's listed whether they created it (or he thinks they did) or not.

He's brainwashed.

This old chestnut again. Its like the ultimate top trump card to play after you berate AMD constantly yet when pinned to the wall about any kind of fanboyism traits use this. 9/10 when you press this demographic it boils down to unless AMD release a card that home runs in every aspect the default choice is going to be "I will get an nvidia card as <excuse>".

By your own admission unless AMD have a superior DLSS, raytracing, physx, whatever feature your not going to consider them which is pretty much worthless when saying "Dont get me wrong.. I would buy AMD" response.

Pretty good summation pal.
I haven't said anything like that, if AMD price & performance was spot on I would buy AMD as I have previously. TBH I find AMD image quality better than Nvidia for reasons I have already outlined.

I've never said Nvidia created any of it, only that they promoted it. I am also grateful AMD exists and have bought AMD products in the past. I'd prefer you not to tell others what I think though.

Well, you said it. Either you believe it and you thank nVidia for that list of stuff they bought, or you don't. Which is it?

You know what, i don't actually care :p What with the nonsense about AMD doing nothing and throwing constant strawmen at me, you had no real point to begin with.

Yes let’s give it a rest. Your point that nvidia is evil and amd is the best is impossible to overcome.

Judging by all these people that have bought AMD in the past I can guarantee the purchase history has been 980Ti >1080Ti > 2080Ti or non-Ti variations of that. If you have not owned one in a few gens then you cant pretend by reading forum posts that you have any experience of drivers and performance.

So are you waiting to see this or just buying the 3800 on launch? Because it sounds like you’ve already decided on the 3800.

I’m currently sitting on a 1080 and before that had crossfired 280x’s and to be honest they were fine until I started messing with the firmware/changing drivers. Can’t remember what was before them though. I liked my 280’s though but they did run warm.

I had a 290x it was the last 'high end' I bought until I could suddenly only afford a mid-range?? It was a loud hot beast, but a year later I installed the AIO hack and it was cool, quiet beast. It was only the 580 that was slightly better than it so lasted about 5 years I reckon before I even considered an upgrade.

Like many, many posters its unbelievable how far the mindshare embeds.

It does make me laugh. Just buy the 30xx if you want it?!

I’ve seen loads moaning about not buying AMD because they haven’t launched the same day as Nvidia and they can’t wait 2 months to find out. I’m sure if AMD found out that Dave on ocuk can’t wait 2 months they’d happily destroy all their schedules and customer relations to bring it forward for him. It’s not like that’s a massive issue is it.... CoMe On AmD, YoUrE So BaD

You are quite right 980-980ti-1080-2080

So when I say how would you know how bad AMD drivers were, how hot they ran etc. you cant. At least you admit it. It doesn't take much guile to figure it out though, the tone arrogance and negativity usually give it away after 3 posts.. ;)

If I can get one I’ll buy 3080 at launch. I need more performance due to a screen upgrade and don’t have the confidence that AMD will deliver as posted previously. That was my initial point as in my experience AMD cards won’t perform as well as a new gen Nvidia card. That hasn’t gone down well with some.

I had a bad experience with an AMD product with regards to drivers. You are quite right they may well be much better now. Once bitten twice shy though. I’ve never had a problem with an nvidia product - I actually was very tempted by vega when it came out and really wanted to get one but it transpired it was actually slower than my nvidia card I already had. Since then there hasn’t been anything to compete with the x80 cards I buy.

Nothing wrong with that, point still stands its best to try out other brands once in a while you may be surprised. I have built many rigs since the late 90's and still get hands on with different combinations through work. Both the brands are not perfect, when it comes to personal purchases I set a budget and go from there. I wouldn't class myself as a die hard gamer but know when to splash the cash such as when your on a decent display get the card that can utilise it.

Nvidia for a few few months would crash on GTA V so required an old firmware.
Nvidia also recently dropped 3D support for their GPUs (god knows why).

both manufacturers are far from perfect IMO.
