Yes, i change graphics cards a lot but normally just in used traders via facebook/marketplace so don't cost a lot. Like many on here, i will be waiting to see what the new AMD cards can deliver and also the true performance of the 3080 once the embargo is lifted and buy which ever will suit my needs the most (1440p 175hz)

Matrox Millennium (2D card)
Voodoo 3 2000
GeForce 2 GTS
9700 Pro
3870
7970
780Ti
1080 FE
TBD but likely a 3080 or 3090...

Feel like I've spent a reasonable amount of time with red/green teams, though I clearly upgrade far less frequently. Though got a bit of a memory blank from 9700 Pro to 3870, feel like I must've had something else between those cards...

I do feel like Nvidia have me in a bind currently though. I have a GSync monitor and I really like the extra Geforce Experience software...

Cant remember the early ones, expect they were mostly Matrox, Riva or early AMD(Rage, Wonder?) cards at the time.

Then Crysis hit, £1500 on a whole new PC in 2007 including OcUK GeForce 8800 GTX 768MB
Sapphire ATI Radeon HD 5750
MSI ATI Radeon HD 6850 Cyclone Power Edition 1024MB x 2 CrossfireX (Was more often rubbish than decent from what I recall)
Powercolor R9 390
1080 GTX

I am open to either at the moment due to monitor supporting Gsync and Freesync Pro. :p

Only ATI/AMD card I have owned was the awesome X800 Pro which I accidentally nuked by touching molex connector pins the wrong way round :(

[/SPOILER]

had one myself, and even back then the build quality was dubious, had to fix the heatsink and cooling as it didnt touch have of the memory chips on the card Oo. how times havent changed it seems.

HD 5870
GTX 480 sli
HD 5970
RX 480
VEGA 54 on 64 bios.

Last time I was in green corner was 2011.
It looks like it's time to come back..
Sadly.
Quite similar to me.

GT 8800 GT (2nd hand)
GTX 460
HD 7850
R9 280X (2nd hand)
RX 480
Vega 56

Some massive performance leaps in there and some quite small ones too. The 480 was only bought as the 280X failed.

The Vega 56, well, I have no idea why I bought that :p I don't even game atm, not enough time! That will change in future tho!

Although in my sig link, here is my list :D

Too much red, so I am trying to balance it out :p

Seems Coreteks is still sticking to his theory. Claims multiple Tier 1 partners are saying the same.

watched up to the point where he starts to ramble on about the leaked testbench card then turned off as he explained how much ram and power it had. totally ignoring its a test card you can swap gpu chips on and off and run multiple configurations on for power and possibly ram as well. will mean bugger all for the actual retail cards.

Could lose opening FE prices.

Wouldn't fall into that trap or line of thought.

Outside of a mining-boom, tech always depreciates with time. I know people like to think of their GPUs and CPUs are investments but they're just shiney little toys which plummet in value within 2 years and become obsolete in 5 years. I wouldn't try to over-think that a potential £25-50 saving is worth saving over an informed decision.

Made a new graphics history tree guys. Was actually going to do it before everyone started unloading all this info here anyway but was too slow :)
