AMD Navi 23 ‘NVIDIA Killer’ GPU Rumored to Support Hardware Ray Tracing, Coming Next Year

Rich old dudes? LOL... if you think everyone over 14-24 (by far the biggest age range category of Fortnite) is 'rich' then you really do live under a rock. :D It is a fact however, that on average people of an older working age will have more disposable income to spend on expensive GPU's

I'm not offended BY Fortnite, I was just irked by the principle AMD making such a targeted release of news that is significant to all AMD fans. If you don't agree then that's fine.
It was on twitter too but maybe you wanted it printed in the daily mail?

It's a bit of fun anyone can go and explore the 3d render of the cooler in Fortnite. Everyone wanted leaks and you got some. But now it's childish even though Fortnite is one of the most popular games in the world right now. Oh and the game is free......

Oh look, another account that has been inactive for a decade just to suddenly spur back into action to trash talk AMD...
You noticed that too? its the same in the CPU room, very old accounts resurrected attempting and failing to bring up old AMD vs Intel tropes.

Personally I'm not a fan of JayZTwoCent but how is that equivalent? RT is a rendering tech and RTX features also came to a range of games for people to check out in varying amounts and guises including Quake 2 - there is also a reason Minecraft got some early love as the technology is a good fit for breaking ground with its relatively simple implementation and possibility of optimising around the blocks for performance reasons.
Honestly? You've come across as a lot of things, my dude, but dumb isn't one of them.

Fortnight clearly has a sufficiently large user base with a sufficiently large income for Epic to bother implementing RT and Nvidia to market it as a headline attraction for Ampere. Clearly Nvidia see dollar signs in being able to market the virtues of the RTX brand to Fortnight players in the hopes they will purchase Ampere. So that's fine.

But, the second AMD also sees Fortnight as a valid platform to advertise their product, they're lambasted for it. Everybody starts crying about how it sucks and Fortnight is for kids and blah blah.
There is no specific reason for AMD to make people go to a specific game to get further information about their upcoming GPUs.
What, other than the specific reason that Fortnight is a game, gamers play games, gamers buy graphics cards and AMD are releasing new graphics cards soon?
The fact AMD are using Fortnite of all things to reveal GPU's makes me nauseous, it's imo a terrible marketing strategy. Why reveal the cards in a game played primarily by kids and young adults who rarely even have disposable income to buy anything of significance without their parents supporting them, instead of the finding a more balanced way to show it to the much wider AMD gaming community?
So I say again, it's perfectly fine for Nvidia to target Fortnight players and market their expensive products, but it's "nauseating" when AMD do it?

So what you are saying is that these a troll accounts? Right?

These are just normal people that get excited over new tech. Only to discover that AMD is clearly come to a gun fight armed with a knife again....and late....again.

And we are finding this out how. Through fortnight. Lol

No, it's not specifically AMD as a company doing it that I find nauseating, that would also include Nvidia but I didn't realise they had done the same exclusive reveals in this way. I have nothing in the way of bias against AMD or Nvidia and I think any irrational fanboy behaviour is genuinely pathetic.

I of course understand from a pure marketing and exposure perspective why they do it in popular games like Fortnite, but on a personal level I still find it irksome and distasteful.

nVidia hasn't however made any of their stuff exclusive to Fortnite, AMD has albeit it is just a 3D representation of their GPU. So the equivalence you are trying to make just isn't there.

Just keep adding to the trolling my dude. 4 year old account with under 200 posts, and all you've done is **** post about AMD can't do anything? Jog on...

Its a bit of fun, i'm 44 and hate the very notion of fortnight kids but it really doesn't bother me at all. I know what AMD are doing, not only are they targeting the largest game on earth they are also targeting it because its ram packed with kids, they are the next generation of PC gamers, all kids grow up eventually and these kids will grow up with Radeon burned in their minds.

As with JayZ2Cents its not that AMD's marketing this time round is "childish" or "bad", perhaps you hate it because its actually very clever and effective.

I'm sorry, wasn;t the RX cooler posted on Twitter almost immediately after the bit of fun in Fortnight? Exclusivity? Don't think so. No equivalence? Try opening your eyes a little.

The Twitter post was a single image that directed people to Fortnite if they wanted further information (i.e. seeing features that weren't revealed from the picture POV) that is very different from the equivalence you were trying to draw with nVidia.

There is no technical reason why they couldn't have uploaded a variant on html5 canvas or similar for people to simply view in their browser.

Fortnite isnt just for kids, my nephew got into it(10 year old), now his dad(my little brother, 42) plays it more. :p

I can see it being quite addictive if one would give it half a chance, its why i steer clear of it :D half a dozen raging 10 year olds in your ear is enough incentive for me to stay away.

I think the slightly cartoony graphics make people think its a kids game but it has a pretty high skill ceiling. Not for me but plenty enjoy it. Off topic I guess. :p

Its clear AMD should have just taken the cooler out of an oven because kids cant play with ovens.

Right :) like that bit of fun and playfulness is less daft than floating a giant GPU in a popular game.

AMD's marketing was bad when they made "Poor Volta" jibs at Nvidia.

There is nothing wrong with harmlessly messing around in a game that has millions of players. This is not bad, this is good.

Looks nice, 2 x 8 pin connectors looks promising!

I would have been annoyed if they ONLY showed something in Fortnite. The fact they did both a full cooler reveal + the fortnite thing gives options for both. its fine by me. And those who don't like it? look at how much the internet is discussing it! :p
