AMD Navi 23 ‘NVIDIA Killer’ GPU Rumored to Support Hardware Ray Tracing, Coming Next Year

It's the normal go-to for an Nvidia fan who tries to act neutral. I will buy if it wins in power, performance, tech and is cheaper.

Indeed.

Also not fussed with RT or DLSS style gimmicks. I just want solid 1440p+ performance. :) (Which at the moment the 3080 is king of)

This is not what Jensen said the card would be king of ;)

I saw this video where this guy compares his XC3 3080 to his 2080ti

He found that Horizon Zero Dawn doesn't work with Ampere so his 2080ti is 20% faster in that game, it seems to support the theory that games must be developed for that architecture
Eh? Grim5, what do you mean that Horizon Zero Dawn doesn't work on Ampere... how do you explain the many Youtube videos and reviews showing it running and benchmarked? Also which theory are you talking about (I have never heard of it) that says PC games are designed for specific architectures to the point where they would work on Thuring but not work at all on Ampere, both modern NVidia GPU's... surely that would simply be a software driver issue and not a specific hardware limitation?

Well, its king across the board but 1440p is what I am looking for. Hopeful AMD are competitive. :)

I think he was eluding to 4k but forgot to mention on select titles that were helped by DLSS I think your evading. So yes its probably overkill for a 2k display but its not what it was sold as... I would think the 3070 is all you need for that tbf. ;)

A red flag is why AMD are waiting so long to talk about their GPUs. Why in the world would they wait so late when they could take the wind out of NVIDIA's sails in the 8th or whenever they release their CPU news. Just a GPU tease of their highest end card working in RDR2, HZD, SOTR with RTX at 4K would be enough to make people stand up and take notice... if they have the numbers to back it up.

Because they are at least 6 weeks to 2 months behind where Nvidia are, did Nvidia show you the performance in early Aug 6 weeks before launch?.

My god some people are thick or have a certain agenda, we only knew what the performance 3080 was a few days before launch.

On 28th Oct Amd will talk about their cards, Amd might not even know what clocks speeds are yet, they more likely have hardly any complete cards yet.

still say nvidia blinked first to get the jump on amd hence the dire stock (yes yes its was all scalpers hence nvidia TOLD gibbo not to show how much stock he had).

now what do we KNOW, amd will show something about the new gpu's on the 28th of october, and they are supposed to ship before the consoles, again amd stated this earlier in the year. so 9th of novermbers the latest date they can ship, what will the model range and stock number be, NO ONE KNOWS!!!! for all we know it will be the 5000 range refresh which amd confirmed was happening months ago. or they may drop a 6000 card, but again will it be the top end card or a middle card with big navi still coming soon.

everything else is pure made up idiocy being reposted left right and centre by youtube "experts" and the vocal forum warriors.

my own view is IF the performance rumours are anywhere near correct is we get at least a 3070 competitor, on price id like it to be a good £50 cheaper but i bet its more like £20. there will be a big navi and that will be 3080 or just over performance at 3080 prices. sorry if that upsets the idiots (yes you are) babbling on about it stuffing the 3080 but we have seen sod all that supports that, will we come the end of october, who knows for now NO ONE outside of amd.

I would have probably phrased it slightly differently but in essence that pretty much is where we are. Only AMD know if they are pushing forward with a high end product as opposed to something they have in the labs. All we really know is they have the potential to do something based on console performance and what is technically and hypothetically possible.

She made that promise in Jan 2020 when 2080Ti was high end. So in essence if AMD release a GPU that meets 2080Ti performance that 9 month old promise will be fulfilled. :)
So you seriously think she was on about a year old graphics card rather than the next gen cards RDNA2 would be coming up against?

Trouble is if they under cut Nvidia to much Nvidia could if they wanted do the same, I not sure Amd could handle a price war with Nvidia deep pockets we see.

cant have a price war when you have shareholders. got to make some profit or them shares are worthless.
Yes you can. It happens all the time.
If having a price war means that you get sales and the competitor doesn't, then a company will have a price war. Up to a certain extent. They won't be loosing money on each sales if they don't have to, but they are willing to take a smaller cut if the competitor doesn't get that money.

i honestly dont think nvidia is in any position currently to have a price war, no stock till what november it seems so why waste money just yet.

now if amd drop something cheap fast and have vast amounts of stock ready to go maybe things will change but i doubt neither chief exec wants to risk getting hoofed out if a price war gamble fails.
