Yeah, I can't help but agree with you on the irrationality part. But I do want to add that for me at least, this launch has added a fair bit of excitement in my life that I haven't felt since the start of the lockdown. It distracts me from reality and provides fuel to emotions I haven't felt in quite some time. For this reason, I kind of don't want the 3080 yet but another part of me really wants a shipment notification like right now lol.

That being said, I almost exclusively play on VR which is sometimes very GPU intensive because it renders one image per eye for every given frame, so the difference will definitely be noticeable given how my headset locks to either 40fps or 80fps with no in-between to prevent me from throwing up too easily.

However, I'm very much expecting my GamingPro OC by next week (which is dangerously optimistic) so I'd say I'm at the sweet spot. If I was like a few others and had to wait months, I don't think I'd be able to maintain the current bliss I'm feeling about the situation. Also, congratulations on receiving your card. If your budget allows for it, you should definitely consider picking up a vr headset, the quest 2 is about to be dropped and it's offering valve index-ish quality for as low as £300 + however much you spend on the link cable to connect to your PC. I guarantee that you'll be re-gladdened with your 3080 purchase after that. Although, me tempting you with further purchases is probably not good on my part lol, I believe they refer that to enabling behaviour or something..

@TearSoup I feel like you'll be getting yours soon too based off when you ordered and the card you chose. I've got the original Vive but am looking at a new headset - this is a 3080 post so I'll not start a new, unrelated full conversation but would you recommend the Quest 2 over the Rift S? I was going to buy a Rift S today (assuming it was better as a dedicated headset) but your comment has made me pause.

Would appreciate anyone else's thoughts too, I'm also going to go and do some research!

Obviously an official queue would be nice.. But for now I'll just wait it out and see what happens my 2070 super is doing fine at the moment I'm giving it to a friends son when the 3080 arrives so hopefully it won't be too long for his sake... Haha

Well the unofficial calculator is putting me at 18 for the strix OC, hopefully I'll see one in the first few batches. Thanks to everyone who has put the effort in to these I know it's unofficial and may not be accurate but it sure has passed the time.

I still dont see how im 206 in queue on a TUF OC ordered lunch day 15:25 and I can only count (out of the 1000s of samples) 17 people ahead of me.
I expect the author of the program could answer this, but I assume that as yours is the 5th most popular card with 7.2% of known orders, 7.2% of any unknown orders before yours (based on order numbers alone) are assumed to be for the TUF OC and placed in the queue before you.

So the 3080 I bought last thursday is £70 more on the OCUK website today and available to preorder, in fact its been £70 more all week.

I guess a few of us are in this same boat?

That’s just it, they don’t know how many cards they’re getting or when.

This is what I don't understand. How can companies not know how much stock is coming in, it just seems so 19th century! Surely Asus or whomever can tell each retailer how many cards they're getting per week? How is it so difficult?!

end of the day we need OCUK offical queue system - regardless if we have stock dates.

should we read anything into the fact that Gibbo, who I believe is the purchasing manager for OC’s, now has a picture of a Ferrari on the bottom of all his posts:)

Just out of interest, did anyone who ordered a Palit non-oc around 5pm get one in the last batch? Just trying to get a feel for how much the queue moved in front of me. I ordered at 5.40.

When we talk about 'price gouging' keep in mind that the original SRP was for initial launch stock only, I doubt that the resellers are able to buy stock anywhere close to a price that would let them sell at SRP any more.

This is also why I do applaud OCUK for keeping the pre-orders open and allowing people to lock-in a price and a place in the queue, while not going even close to some of the pricing that can easily be seen out there on other sites...

I mean the place I'm looking at have the Strix OC at +£140 vs OCUK, I don't think it could have changed that heavily right? Its literally sitting at £998.99, prior it was around £890 ish the other day.

Haha yea that is exactly how it is when I buy new GPU, well I don't get quite as excited as you it seems :D ...but it is always nice to get new hardware. I get this effect with a lot of hardware upgrades though as I never actually keep anything so long it actually becomes slow enough to cause me any issues though, I upgrade before it gets to that stage (also so my old GPU still has some value, although this time I don't plan to sell my 1080Ti on as I want it for my second system) While I do play some newer games that are much more demanding and will benefit from this, certainly I want to see what RTX is like, they are just transitory experiences, i,e, can be completed like Shadow of the Tomb Raider etc, most of my game time currently is being spent on Elite Dangerous like you and will be World of Warcraft again soon, neither of which will benefit in the least from a 3080, my 1080Ti is overkill for them even and I used a 3440x1440 144hz monitor. Once the new shiny wears off it is just a GPU that I wont notice the difference with for the vast majority of my game time. But hey, to me at least, it's worth 'something' just knowing that should I really want to, I 'could' run the latest and greatest at 4K with all the things ...even though I probably wont.

Ha, yeah I last did a proper upgrade in 2017 so it was pretty exciting. But ontop of that I'd got myself super wrapped up in all this hype.

So with ray tracing when I experienced it last night for the first time it was very cool looking at reflections in puddles/windows but really didn't add a lot to my experience overall. But I also think this is because it's still very early for developers with this technology so they haven't had a chance to implement it in cool ways, imagine a new Splinter Cell where you're doing a stealth op in an office environment and you're using reflections in the office glass to see where patrols are going - that level of immersion will come at some point when ray tracing become more mainstream and will be super cool.

I spent about £200 last night when I installed my card on all the RTX games available (Metro Exodus, Control, Minecraft for Windows 10 etc) and honestly Minecraft was the one which got me the most excited about the potential - it really is mindblowing. Others weren't as captivating after 10 minutes with the game, for example Metro Exodus looks beautiful without ray tracing and I was hard pressed to see a difference with it off and on most of the time.

What DID absolutely blow me away (and surprised me) was DLSS. It quite literally doubles my FPS most of the time and sometimes looks better than with it off - that really does get me mega excited for what developers will do with it.

Well cant blame them for trying I guess lol.... One of u left a link to a reddit post in this forum, cant remember which sorry, all credit to u, I must have opened in a new tab and forgot while I did some work, so.... this supplier (Falcon Computers) is inflating partner card prices to pay for his left over 2080ti stock and he is not shy to admit it, f-ing tool comes to mind https://www.reddit.com/r/nvidia/com...urce=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf

I did and my order was 16:35 and I picked it up yesterday. There was someone else here who also ordered Palic Gaming non-OC at 16:37 and his was also shipped last night.

I'd heard the EVGA cards have been removed, due to their ignoring the EU for now.
I would expect they stopped selling them due to the lack of info from EVGA. If they have say 1000+ pre-orders, and EVGA haven't even given a date for when they'll deliver a single card it makes sense to halt further pre-orders. A bad show from EVGA so far. But it's still very early days.
