To be fair that other company only stopped taking pre orders once they got to January for delivery. Ocuk has stopped pre orders on manufacturers who won’t give any idea of when cards will arrive in the uk. As for the rest, looking at the quantities that ocuk are getting in, I doubt they have pre orders for anything longer than 6 weeks, half the time of the company you are talking about.

that’s why ocuk can hold up pre orders fro longer cause they know they can get the stock whereas some other retailers aren’t even expecting some stock until 30th November.

Well if that is indeed the case and if what you're saying is true then Overclockers should have no problem providing us with estimates like the other company is surely?

I keep hearing about how OC get more stock etc but the only thing known for sure at this point from a customers point of view is that one company is giving estimated dates on delivery whilst the other is still taking preorders and not giving very clear information whilst telling people not to call/email unless it's "urgent" despite GPU manufacturers literally telling people to ask etailers about stock availability.

I mean, we can go around in circles but the truth is, it's been poor customer service around the whole matter and fear of losing a queue place is likely the reason many are still even considering a purchase at this point.

Te RTX 3080 release has been a disaster. I had OCUk, Caseking and other sites open and was luck enough to get an EVGA RTX 3080 XC3 from Caseking within 15 mins. Job done.
Order went to processing the next day and full payment taken.
Then yesterday I get an email advising no stock left and I was now on a waiting list with no ETA.

I rang CaseKing and they advised me that the sum total of the 3080s they had received for release day - was "14" - total. That's inclusive of all brands.
They apologised and reiterated that they had not Stock ETA for EVGA cards.
Very disappointed - waiting on refund and have to keep looking around...

No matter where you its the same story at literally every retailer. Launch should have been delayed by a 15 ~ 25 days to give retailers time to get ample stock in rather than this entire disaster.

Its nice to see retailers trying to be as transparent as possible though for us consumers.

Any USA orders already in are ok although many have already cancelled supposedly.
Orders for Non UK / Ireland will not be taken from now at least temporarily, probably will include the 3070 release as well.

from Gibbo's post https://forums.overclockers.co.uk/t...deliveries-how-to-cancel-your-order.18899277/

"We have also made changes to our website that on 3080 and 3090 all sales shall be limited to UK and Ireland ONLY.

It is with huge regret that we have to take this action and I deeply apologise to our USA and European customers who order from us, we hope the measure to be temporary and only whilst the severe shortage remains."

Well it seems like their competition are doing a better job and they have shut down further preorders to meet current demand, unlike OC.

I fail to see why this would be considered 'better'...

No option to lock-in a price and join a queue, just have to wait and see what the price might be at some future date, if you notice when they open up orders again...

With OCUK you get the choice, if you want to gamble then don't place an order and you roll the dice on date and price.

If you prefer to know the price then place a pre-order...

Second lockdown on the horizon could cripple the £ value more and we all know how much exchange rate impacts the price of these GPUs so definitely is better to lock in right now.

Everyone who places a pre-order should realize they're going to be in a long queue now, don't see what closing pre-orders really achieve, I guess get less cancellations in the long run?

It's better because the communication is better, pretty simple, they are giving estimated dates of delivery, it at least gives customers an idea of what to expect, even PC Gamer managed to get some information from Asus reps and other partners, I want to know why we aren't getting this kind of information here? OC are well known for getting high stock from these partners and having a good reputation with regards to information but I am not seeing that here at all.

With OC you get a choice to preorder, give them money and gamble on when you might get your card, preorders mean nothing if the thing you're preordering doesn't come for 6 months or you aren't even getting communication about when the product might possibly be in.

How is another competitor getting this information before OC?

Passing time, Currently 92 in queue from 115 on the weekend.

Seems like everyone but us at the moment

Does feel that way at times, looking here at the retailers 3090 page they're giving exact numbers for current stock. Just interesting to see how light the stock really is, as low as 3 cards for some skus. Interestingly they say up to December 2nd for a 3080 Zotac and they've got Strix dates set for 27th of October, Ventus for 22nd and Gaming trios for 17th of november!!!

Edit: Removed link, unsure if Scandinavian retailer links break the policy of the ban of OCUK competitors talk.

Right now 'estimated dates of delivery' are likely to be highly unreliable, even if a delivery happens it is very likely to contain fewer units than ordered.

If it makes you feel better to have an unreliable estimate then by all means go order from somewhere else.

Personally I'd rather have accurate information on actual deliveries until such time as the supply chain is well enough stocked for reliable 'ETA' dates to be possible again.

That's an assumption on your part, you are assuming that the competition doesn't have reliable information on stock, that's something neither you, nor I know.

All we know is they have updated their customers with estimated dates whilst we have nothing of the sort, that's it.

I would rather have accurate information as well but at this point any form of communication is better than nothing, do you really want to be waiting weeks/months before you get any information?

Again, it's not about the wait for the cards, it's about the lack of transparency around stock, it feels purposeful because the reality might mean people are going to cancel preorders and that's bad for business when they are still taking them on.
