I've just looked at my pay Pal email.
And I paid [email protected] I'm confused.
Yes I did get it from the shop.

I succumbed and ordered a 3090 Strix OC .
Was going to be sensible and get a 3080 but life is too short.
All the listings say Pre-Order, and if you click on that you get information that says for Pre-Order payment will be taken immediately, and you'll be put on to the queue. No eta, they don't have it, the customer won't have it, it's their responsibility to pre-order based on that or not.
From all I have learned over the past few days about the supply issues with the RTX30 series, I am left coming to only one conclusion, and that is the fault lies squarely with nVidia / Samsung and the GPU wafer fab.
Foxconn who assemble the boards are capable of assembling massively complex boards like the iPhone - far more populated than GPU, and they can do that in the quantities meased by the millions. I'm not seeing any mention of component shortages such as GDDR6x as happened with the previous generation.
The ampere platform is not specific to GPUs either, nVidia is using this in many other chips, and there is no suggestion of shortages of those, granted it's not the entire same chip, but it is the same technology and if Samsung can turn these out in reasonable volumes there's no good reason they can't be capable of turning out reasonable volumes.
Which leave only one realistic conclusion, that nVidia are holding back on GPUs because of the perceived threat from AMD big Navi, and they don't want to get ambushed like they were in the middle of the RTX20 run by AMD pulling the rug from under them on price and forcing them to release a 'super' version of the card. Big Navi launches 28th October, and very revcent rumours suggest it will compete on Graphics power with the RTX3080, and that nVidia are going to up the memory to 16GB and 20GB just to stay in the game.

It would appear to me, that this is a deliberate corporate action on behalf of nVidia who are running scared of what AMD are going to bring to the table, the GPU power it will have, the memory and the Wattage it will draw.
Who here would be happy to find that the card they bought, is now the same price with double the GDDR ?
I meant my ASUS TUF. Lol.I've just looked at my pay Pal email.

How do you know?I'm 1600 in the que
Not gonna happen. With the price of GDDR6X, Nvidia would have to increase the price to have any chance of making a profit.
I admit, I am slightly concerned that they might pull out superior cards at a moment's notice, to complete with AMD, but I have my doubts. Considering how insanely popular the 3080 is (and how much they've screwed up the launch), they'd be shooting themselves on the foot if they were to suddenly present a "better" card from out of nowhere
You keeping your 2080Ti and shunt modding it then?500W 3080 vs a 500W 2080ti.
Very little in it game per game except when you turn DLSS on and then the 3080 pulls ahead by 10-20%. Just goes to show most of the performance boost of the 3080 comes from the extra power they have given the card.
Did you actually read what I wrote? There is an eta, and also a number of people who have bought before you. I was given this info, so could make a decision based on that.
Unlike the majority of people on here having to figure out queue positions themselves.
Morning folks I’ve come for my morning dose of disappointment! Hope a few ppl get there cards today
2x RTX 2080Ti
I knew what you were going to do before you did.
At least you going to put it under water, that's something I guess.
The architecture seems to be at it's limits as well, as seen by how little performance uplift there is comparing the 3080 to the 3090.
All they can do is increase the vram on the 3080.

But looking at the difference between the 24GB 3090 and the 10GB 3080, why would they need to increase the vram? It's not doing much for the 3090 performance.
