Really interesting video on jayztwocents called 3080 launch can it get any worse, wrong right. He rips a number of cards down and for me absolutely nails the crashing issue.

Explains to me why the zotac cards are under powered against the FE and why people are struggling to OC.

Anyone not wanting to OC shouldn't have an issue.

Nothing to do with early run chip samples? A error in nvidia boost in the drivers? How about human error on the pc? Look I’m not saying this isn’t a issue but come on a driver problem a problem in the boost algorithm nvidia? These don’t seem more reasonable issues then just on something that most people don’t understand and it becoming the truth?

Have you watched the video bro? Looking at the different types of capacitors on the FE and the Zotac and some others. I'm glad I put my money with Asus Tuf who haven't gone with the cheaper ones that fully appear to be causing the issues.

Could be right, could be wrong.

Everyone can make a decision what they buy.

Just trying to help

yes I’ve watched the video exp the jay2cent one he got so many things wrong from a post from another YouTuber and ran with what he thought was the truth. Look I’m not saying it isn’t the problem but there are so many more things it could be.

they say that the card is crashing and he even said it’s 15mhz difference could make it the issue but have u ever tried to overclock a card the issues u get the pixelation and hard lockup and crashes. There crashing to the desktop without the normal issues. But the story is now rolling and people are rolling with it good for asus though since everyone will now buy a ASU’s card:)

I don't understand why people are panicking.
Any problems with the card, call the support team and request RMA.

They will send you a new card.

Great work on adding the video, I couldn't work out how to do that.

Hopefully everyone will be fine and like he says at the end a firmware will fix but reduce the power a bit. If it's something else that's an easy fix then whoop.

;)

Not true or proven at all. Just a theory.

its just a theory at this point.

This is only a theory at the moment, it could be driver related, lets not jump the gun here.

EVGA seem to have reacted to this theory

Unless ASUS have changed this, strange because their cheaper TUF doesn't have 6 cheaper ones.
Yeah I figured if TUF has them then the Strix must do.. everywhere I look currently shows the cheap ones on the strix.

Happily, one of the few reviews seems to show the MLCC's:

We'll see, though, hey?

ASUS did not cheap out.
That's why I went for the Strix OC.

Asus is one of my preferred brands.

They may rip you off a bit with their prices but you do get good quality.

I like their Rampage Extreme boards because they can take a lot of very heavy use but they are expensive.

Used to work in an electronics factory. Wouldn't be surprised if all shipments were cancelled at the last minute and all produced cards are being manually resoldered with the new caps, hence the chaos with shipments and stock. Happened quite a bit on new stuff going out when I was there.

I ordered with a competitor and their website said in stock and I would get it next day at point or ordering. Something has definitely happened behind the scenes.

Looks like MSI Also changed to using 2 MLC and 4 SP-Cap.

FYI these are not POSCAP no 3080 or 3090 uses them. POSCAP is a specific Panasonic line. These are SP-Cap go check out Bilzoid Actually Overclocking YouTube channel. He talks about these and corrects information.

Either way latest images I'm seeing of MSI cards is they have gone from 1 to 2 MLC now.

Not a good look for gigabyte and ZOTAC.
Honestly the Gigabyte Gaming tops out at 1800mhz so it will not have a problem if you don't overclock. I do not overclock so I honestly couldn't care less. As stated above the roughly 226 people in the queue before me ought to show Gigabyte by canceling their orders.

Hey folks,

sorry if this has been asked a million times, it’s my first post. I ordered a Strix non OC at 14:27 on ‘release’ day. I’ve not really seen any official update on the card at all. I need to buy a new system for when the card arrives so was wondering whether it’s worth doing that now or waiting a little? I don’t particular want to buy all new and have it sat here couple of months before my GPU turns up.

thanks in advance :)

Amazing that Asus managed to produce a card with all MLC and a highly performant cooler for the £649 RRP. Just a shame that demand and favourable reviews have resulted in inexcusable retailer price gouging.
