Let's just imagine we pre-ordered cars and they have to make it by hand for us.... Although that would probably take less time.

I've refrained from calling or webnotes or bothering customer service as I understand it's a stock problem.

They are still taking pre orders for cards which people who ordered at launch still have no clue when they will receive.

They are but I can't see anything wrong with that. They're not promising a date and they've limited it to UK and Ireland. If you want to assure yourself of a card no matter when that is, this is currently the only way to do it other than spending every waking moment pressing F5. It's a customer choice and if you choose to pre-order now knowing the state of the launch with no ETA that's on customers not OC. At least there's an option to get in a queue for people who don't want to be chasing down a card every minute of the day.

Haven't they already explained why they haven't done it sooner though. They've been processing payments and cancellations up until Thursday this week. Peoples queue positions will have improved because of the cancellations and if they'd released it early loads more people might have rushed to cancel thinking they were much farther back in the queue than they actually are now creating waves of cancellations and even more shifting around in the queue.

Given that some orders have shipped in the past week that also reduces the queue for others even further. If they give the queue positions now at least they'll be more solid positions and if people want to cancel they can knowing their position is accurate. To be fair I think they've done the right thing. Get the cancellations in, let things settle, give AIB's time to understand the demand and work out new production schedules and then release all this info when it's accurate and stable so people can make an informed choice. This all comes with one massive caveat though. The information HAS to be forthcoming at some point and sooner rather than later but it's only been a week. A week is nothing when you're trying to work with so many moving pieces as well as run a business that actually sells a lot more products than just the latest Nvidia GPU

Absolutely!! Don’t get me wrong, I’m in no rush (for now at least) and the fact that they’ve said they’ll look at it is more than I thought we’d ever get. Just pointing out that the work isn’t too complicated and in no way needs to reference any personally identifiable information (pii), so no GDPR issues.

uuu You one of the people that jumped on SALE ASAP NOW waggon damn bro.
@OmniSnr fantastic lcar what ya got now ?? Hope we get some slack from Modderatoors and we can have chatt about less depressing thing than the 3080 situation on saturday nigh. And They can clean topic off tomorrow from out opfftopics.
You got any photo of the Bond car ?

can i paste an instagram url for a picture ?

The lack of a new post is the equivalent to posting "no update".
It is, but I'm more concerned with the timing of it. A "no update" from a post that never comes isn't quite the same as one that is posted at the same hour every day. It eliminates a lot of the lurking/waiting, and hopefully eliminates at least some of the support calls. Right now, the updates we do have tend to come in a roughly 4hr time-frame. If they know ahead of time they will have no update for that day and post it consistently at the same time, it would make some people chill with the F5s for a while. (Speaking from my own autistic-*** compulsions)

@Zeed yeah I don't care about his personal life, just that he does the best ram on ocuk and knows what he's telling about when it comes to overclocking. Much like yourself, I made my 3950x a monster with your help and 3800mhz cl14 ram, 62.3ns latency. Thanks to you
yOU KNOW I love working out whats wrong ect and gladly help anyone that asks for help or can popoint him who to ask or where to look. That's why Im waiting to get my hands on 3080m and see myself how they are.

Also thinking about recording video how to make Custom PSU to GPU cable on them Ampere cards. Gigabyte uses molex i got spare superflower cables and when I get the card and block ill possibly end up doing a cable and skipping those gigabyte ones.

And only reason I packed up posting in Ryzen forums was WoW Classic as I said when that came out it suicked me in cant beat WoW Addiction :D

@OmniSnr ye any link will do cant beat a nice aston photos what You drive now ??

@kirsty123 well You do post like Karen tho.

That does not sound like a monster, I was getting 63ns on my 16gb b-die ram (3733 C16) before upgrading recently to 32gb and get 67ns and these are not even b-die :p

No, they limited the 3090 launch and maybe the orders from a certain date to the UK and Ireland
If they only get stock allocated for the UK as previously stated, then all UK orders should have been prioritised in the first place in my opinion

And I ordered on launch

HOLY censorship :(
Well would not call that censorship it was more of an having a go at someone due to what are hes dating choices. My posts also got removed. Gotta keep this topic "civilised" enough I'd say but not too far. People need a place to VENT this 3080 NV disaster.

I understand that and it's a fair point. At least you recognize that it is your compulsion to do so and that's not a criticism as I can get like that sometimes. The easy answer is to try and set your own time to check in. Make it 11pm every night or something and if the post went up at 3pm that day and you read it at 11pm it's only a few hours.

Do materialised views even exist in MySQL? It's been a while since I've wrote SQL for MySQL. What you said certainly sounds secure, by partitioning off using a new schema and database views for security, although I heard they're a nightmare to update. I write mostly in Python, C, and C++ now and develop tools for Cybersecurity/deep learning, so web technologies have taken a back seat these past couple of years. I think the last web project I developed was probably using node.js and express, and some Laravel as well. No idea what new features and frameworks exist right now. Over complicating things is in my nature, haha. But cheers mate!

Nice!! Can’t go wrong with node.js, and probably what you’d need for something like this (asynchronous call outs). Even if a system doesn’t directly support materialised views, they’re easy enough to partially implement (just dump the contents of a standard view into a static table periodically). Whole bunch of ways you could do this to be fair, including python scripts like you said, and multiple low code methods. Just the kind of little job I love actually!! Think I’ve geeked out enough for now though... more beer needed!! Cheers everyone :D

I wonder if Nvidia could tale a leaf out the Glastonbury book and pre-sell 8 months before the event. My second disappointment of the year.

That actually sounds good until you see the issue. Problem is showing gains over last Gen to entice people to pre-order. Not many would throw down that cash on a promise of better performance. Imagine doing that with the 2000 series cards?

Hi, long time listener, first time caller.

I ordered a new car, they've told me when roughly it'll arrive (3 months) and I've been kept updated all the way through, but that amounts to what, 3 calls? i pick it up Monday, I've been patient. I knew though. They told me. Get it?

I don't care when the 3080 arrives, 2070 is doing ok, just a rough guide for when "I" will receive what I've paid for, it's all I expect.

No more, no less.

Awesome thread though, it's kept me amused though. Love everyone's work, keep it up
