Here change on MSI website.
So they clearly are aware of issue.
5+1 MLC change to 4+2 MLC
Clearly like evga who said they found out in QC 5+1 wasn't good enough. Maybe this is why there is such a delay in cards.

It also explains why we've not heard from MSI, they probably aren't allowed to talk about it under their partner agreements

Maybe they will. Only on specific MSI websites around the world does it show the update Gaming X trio 3080 to 4+2. So maybe they will. If not the ventus is the budget card where as gaming X trio is their flagship card. Hopefully they will for you.

This has been updated, used to be 6 SP Caps.

Not sure that is the Ventus, but still looks like 6

6 big fat cheap as chips 'poscaps" ( quotes cause they aren't poscaps technically)
They're not "cheap as chips" they're different. And besides from what I have seen the gigabyte SPCAPs are better rated than any of the other manufacturers I have seen. Not come across a Giga user reporting crashes yet either, but may have missed them.

Yeah, I don't really feel any are truly budget at the moment! Also have TUF OC ordered, but this is the one that will ship first!
will likely use it til a second arrives and then sell it (at the same price) on Facebook to a lucky local

Yes, but then you need to work on the authentication. The webshop has that handled, but an outside page connecting to the SQL wouldn't. If they don't have the expertise on-hand to integrate into the existing authentication mechanism then it's suddenly an overkill job just to provide queue positions.

Like I say, I'd like to see some idea of when (or even if, since it's an EVGA) I'm likely to see my 3080. But, to be honest I don't think they should expel THAT much effort unless it's likely to be useful again some time.. Maybe it will and maybe it is. But I'm just saying it might not be the totally easy proposition if it's to be integrated properly.

The autentication to an SQL database is fundamentally just a username/password, you could imagine a sort of fantastical scenario where some other devs built the site and then new devs now have to come in and they don't have the creds and it's a nightmare to reset everything, but I just don't see this being the case for an active/live store like OCUK, I'm sure they either have in house guys or regular devs they speak to who can make these changes very fast. Authenticating against an SQL database is easy in code, most well setup websites will have a connection string already saved as a global variable which you can just use to create new connection requests so you may not even need to know the auth creds, just plug in the string in code and boom you'll connect.

I don't deny these sorts of weird unlikely problems are plausible but they don't seem likely for the importance of a web store to a business like OCUK, if they have regular devs who look at the site even a few times a year then they have a source of developers to do this kind of change very fast, unless they're being taken for a ride and don't know it. Given the revenue estimates made from preorders of these cards I'm sure it's something they can afford to do.

I've seen a few, but it seems like it's pretty rare.

I wouldn't take too much notice of the unofficial queue system. No disrespect to the guys who put them together, but I haven't put my details in as I see no point.
With all the cancellations fairly early on (especially from the US) as well as a load of trols putting in false info I suspect.
If you ordered after the 17th, there really is no point at all!
For all we know, the sales figures are much lower than you think. Just because the sites went down, doesn't mean everyone one was actually buying! Probably a load of kids trying to add to the basket just for fun. I know a lot of people, including a fair few of you guys did just that for the 3090 launch with no intention to purchase.
Could all be over hyped by nvidia and a bit of covering their ass, as there is no ******* stock!
Clearly they weren't ready to launch, but have they given us true reasons for the delay? I think not!
