AMD Navi 23 ‘NVIDIA Killer’ GPU Rumored to Support Hardware Ray Tracing, Coming Next Year

AMD have always been truthful with their benchmark results. Too many people looking for drama tbh.

3080 performance ±10 is good enough for me, but I'm more curious about software innovations & pricing & of course the most important - availability.

The new card is very well engineered from where I'm standing its a big improvement in performance at an efficient power consumption with a good Vram option - the opposition had to push their cards to an inch of their overclocked lives to get a nose infront in performance so much so they were black screening before an update, consume ridiculous amounts of power and are lacking in Vram - they even had to launch their cards before there was any real stock availability just get ahead of AMD.

There will probably be availability for Navi if only because everyone and their dog have pre-ordered Nvidia - of course they were showcasing their top card why would they gimp their own CPU launch by using an inferior card? They may not have named it (they dont' want a GPU reveal before the official GPU reveal) but it makes no sense to cripple their own presentation. Theres speculation based on sound reasoning and then theres wishful thinking and all this nonsense about beating a 3090 is just that.

3080 performance ±10 will do nicely thanks but availability is indeed key.

It sounds likely they will have a better model for fps numbers beating the 3080, but I bet its not available yet. The scores you seen were for the 3080 competitor which I hope is available in November and plenty of stock.

.

It was at the end of the presentation at a resolution that is GPU bottlenecked not CPU. The teaser at the end has no bearing or reflection on the CPUs performance. More so when you consider that for 30 mins prior to the teaser they paraded around the gaming performance crown.

I do have info, the same unconfirmed info leaked from the major retailer Newegg... that's pretty much all we have. From those theoretical specs you can easily figure out which part AMD showed in their benchmarks. But no worries, if you want to apply your own logic based on wild optimism that a cut-down Big Navi part is going to compete with a 3080 then feel free.
So does RedTech Gamings new video count as info to believe or does it have to be vetted by you first

Yeah going by various people on Twitter the card shown is one of the 72CU variants, the XT or the XL, one being higher clocked than the other, other than that no one knows what the other differences are. That then leaves the XTX as the 80CU version, with probably even higher clocks than the 72CUs to push performance as high as it will go.
When you compare RDNA1, the 5600XT has 4CUs less or 10% less than the 5700XT with lower clocks, however the 5700XT is about 20% faster. The top 72CU would be 8CUs less, 10% less than the 80CU card, with slightly lower clocks, therefore could the XTX be nearly 20% faster? Which would put it right along side the 3090 performance.

The poll also shows that (for now) most people think it was not the biggest Navi.

We'll all find out in just under 3 weeks, wonder if we'll get anymore substantial leaks before then, the driver details for the card in the last slide of the presentation showed a driver that wasn't released yet. Someone could accidentally release it early and give people a chance to look at the code, but that's wishful thinking

After re watching AMds stream I noticed something interesting

the big Navi benchmarks were done using a 5950x which is a cpu that no one can buy today and it's the fastest gaming cpu in the world

which means that big navis numbers in that benchmark are inflated versus what we can achieve today when benchmarking competing gpus

What this means is that we can't compare them against a rtx3080 for example until we can also re test the 3080 using a 5950x, it's not fair to run the 3080 with a 10900k/3950x and then attribute the difference in performance all to big Navi

I certainly hope AMD doesn't use the 5950x to benchmark big Navi on October 28 or it totally invalidates their claims but I belive that's exactly what they will do

They were done with the 5900x. Where did you get 5950x from?

Of course they do, it reinforces what they already were thinking before the AMD performance slide, on the 8th Oct.

Don't suppose the discussion is gonna move on from this in the next few weeks :D

Not going to fall off the cliff following the hype, but it would seem pointless like some have mentioned for them to reveal the best card at the CPU reveal. It may only mean there is a thrashed version that will release that is 10% faster than shown, but in any case that would be enough to beat the 3080.

It's not pointless, only from the narrow perspective <10% of gamers, who demand more than 60 FPS at 4k resolution.

Maybe there's a version planned with a 5-10% perf. increase with higher clocks, but it isn't ready yet or AMD would've shown this GPU's perf.

They can stick an X on the end and charge a bit more, maybe throw in even more VRAM :D

You guys seem to be very quick to believe some sweaty pale faced dude as a credible source.

You really think some guy sat in his bedroom with a couple squares of sound proofing on his walls has the ear and access to important information regarding a multi billion corporation? Cmon, and I thought team green were bad.

If they come up with a game changer then great! buy it and be happy, but the amount of shilling in here is just embarrassing. Get a life, you really think a company deserves this much passion? be it Nvidia or AMD. Put your enthusiasm into something constructive. Go argue on behalf of climate change or something.

It's pointless from a marketing perspective when the product is slated for release in three weeks, to completely destroy the hype leading up to it.

The only Way this marketing works is if it creates a false expectation which you can springboard off of and suprise everyone

Man-made Climate change isn't real, change my mind. :)

The rumour mill has been rife with "Much faster than the 3080, as fast as a 3090" and so on.

Nope. Not here anyway. And most of the old hands here don't class twitter/facebook as the rumour mill :)

The consensus here has been just under 3080 perf. at launch but we know AMD's launch performance is never 100% of the cards potential.

Is anyone in here impacting your way of life? Otherwise interfering or impacting your day to day activities? No, then why do you care what people have passion about. This is a thread about a GPU release on a tech forum for a store than sells computers components, and you expect people to be showing their passion about climate change?
