I can't even get to the maximum FCLK on the 4650G, as my RAM isn't able to get beyond 4133MHz comfortably without pushing way to high a voltage. The 5xxx parts obviously have the disadvantage of not being monolithic, and having a 12nm I/O die, but perhaps they have managed to improve it over the last 15 months.

I thought AMD told gamersnexus that ram speed would remain the same as on zen 2.

Maybe this is just another one of those Robert Hallock marketing slides like the those from that PBO vid he made last time around.

Official RAM speed for APU's/CPU's is JEDEC 3200MHz as that is as high as it goes, if you are OC'ing the IF/Mem then the limit is the silicon and design.

AMD has kept the official memory speed the same but Zen 3 can be overclocked higher than Zen 2

There would be no reason for there to be a CPU performance gap between a B450 and a B550... the main difference is in the features (PCI-E Gen4 and ports etc).

sometimes different chipsets offer better overclocking capability maybe thats what he means ? i remember that from back in the day.

This is exactly what I was thinking. The announcement was with 3600 RAM but if an FCLK of 2000 was achievable they could have just put the Ryzen and the Intel with 4000 RAM and showed an even bigger performance jump in frame rates for Ryzen.

Let's be honest being able to run an FCLK of 2,000 with 4,000C16 RAM would net a hefty basically free performance gain over what AMD stated.

The only explanation for not doing this is because the 5900x still has issues with cross communication 1900+. I wouldn't be surprised if this 2,000 is only for the 5800x and why it was never shown in the presentation. Data doesn't have to travel as far thus greater integrity plus Buildzoid's speculation of substrate improvements.

Or they kept some gems for reviewers to reveal.
Baffle everyone with IPC improvement and later reveal that they were pulling punches before, that the knockout blow is coming

Probably the 8 pack 32gb kits 3600/16 or 3200/14 and overclock them with some extra voltage.
