I've tried to gain some useful info from this thread... And failed.
Of the 3 chips announced, which one would be the sensible option for gaming at 1440p for the next 4-6 years.
5800x seems reasonable.

I'm going 5900x for that, in the hope that one of my screens will die and be replaced with something better

I can't even get to the maximum FCLK on the 4650G, as my RAM isn't able to get beyond 4133MHz comfortably without pushing way to high a voltage. The 5xxx parts obviously have the disadvantage of not being monolithic, and having a 12nm I/O die, but perhaps they have managed to improve it over the last 15 months.

I thought AMD told gamersnexus that ram speed would remain the same as on zen 2.

Maybe this is just another one of those Robert Hallock marketing slides like the those from that PBO vid he made last time around.

This is why I always take these leeks with a pinch of salt.

Official RAM speed for APU's/CPU's is JEDEC 3200MHz as that is as high as it goes, if you are OC'ing the IF/Mem then the limit is the silicon and design.

Salt certainly adds something to the flavour.

Look up their history. Japan isn't too popular after running around SE Asia last century. China back North Korea and have their eye on Taiwan and are up to something in the South China sea. I'd say there's an uneasy peace in the region for now.
that was the point
saying Lisa Su would be a positive influence "in the region" doesn't make sense

all these countries respect her brains I'm sure, nationality has little to do with it

16c/32t vs 12c/24t :D

4-6% gaming performance increase in a few games whilst the 5900x performs better than the 5950x on other games. I think I will go for the 5900x and save £200. I'd probably go for the 5950x if it was at a maximum of £50 more but it would still not be worth £50 extra, techincally it's worth £30 more. (I am converting dollars to pound sterling here)..

And AMD used 3200 or 3600 for the announcement so there is extra room for more performance

This is exactly what I was thinking. The announcement was with 3600 RAM but if an FCLK of 2000 was achievable they could have just put the Ryzen and the Intel with 4000 RAM and showed an even bigger performance jump in frame rates for Ryzen.

Let's be honest being able to run an FCLK of 2,000 with 4,000C16 RAM would net a hefty basically free performance gain over what AMD stated.

The only explanation for not doing this is because the 5900x still has issues with cross communication 1900+. I wouldn't be surprised if this 2,000 is only for the 5800x and why it was never shown in the presentation. Data doesn't have to travel as far thus greater integrity plus Buildzoid's speculation of substrate improvements.

Reviewers get samples next week!

FCLK at 2,000 seems within reach for most if not all by these words.
How memory manufacturers must love AMD.
There was a flood of various 3600 speed kits after Zen2 launch. Prepare for 4000 kit invasion.

But seriously, any good 2x16GB kits at that speed that won't tank latency?

Or they kept some gems for reviewers to reveal.
Baffle everyone with IPC improvement and later reveal that they were pulling punches before, that the knockout blow is coming

Probably the 8 pack 32gb kits 3600/16 or 3200/14 and overclock them with some extra voltage.
