Someone else's quote but looks like it:

Non-essential retail can remain open for delivery to customers and click-and-collect.

Ultimately the shops could just decide to furlough their staff as they'll get more monies this way. So even though they can offer the service, they may just shut.

Furloughing staff doesn't mean they need to shut up shop completely. You are allowed to ask your staff to work "shifts" and still claim furlough for their "un-worked" hours.

So they could essentially ask a load of staff to come in for a few hours until they shift all their consoles, and maybe turn a small profit with people buying other stuff while there. Then send home all the staff and only have to pay their wages for the few hours worked.

Press Start, advised Amazon have sent emails to people warning there pre order may not arrive this year due to Sony not giving them amount of stock promised

I've not had anything from Amazon myself yet

No but then winches are made to take 1000kg loads. No-one's finger can make that much pressure :p

Plastic is fine too, see the videos of people making stuff out of lego worm drives.

3.1kg force on 1:1 ratio, and 13kg on a plastic 24:1 gear. If your index finger alone can generate 13kg of pinch force, then go you! :p:D

The point I'm trying to make is that this is exactly what a worm drive is designed for, to be able to take high torque loads.

Yes, if you were an idiot and put your bodyweight into the trigger when it was locked out, you'd probably strip something (or more than likely trigger a release for the motor to turn off). But that's like saying the controller can't take being run over by a car - both things outside it's intended use. :)
.....but that is finding the single point snap or breaking apex - Wear and tear doesn't work like that. Take a spoon and bend it and it won't snap........but bend it back and forth 10 times with the same force and it will.
Likewise, drive a screw inmto as piece of wood and it'll be fine, but drive it in and out of multiple pieces of wood and the thread on that screw will degrade until the screw fails. Having said that, I think plastic would be a more durable substance to use than metal in this instance.

I am sure Sony will have tested this over and over, but my concern is that any added complexity builds in potential failure points......a bit like interfacing between IT systems - the less there are, and the simpler they are, then the less likely they are to go wrong.........and you certainly wouldn't build in anything unecessary!

Havinmg said all of that, I do hope this works well - I remember I had a Microsoft force feedback joystick about 20 years ago, and it was fantastic fun to use and added so much to games!

I'm a lot more intrigued by PS5 than I was. Dual Sense sounds excellent. Miles Morales is looking amazing. And the PS+ collection, Bugsnax and Destruction All-Stars give aways have improved the value proposition. Still not sure I can justify the £560 spend though (£450 console + the Spider Man UE + PS+).

Seems Sony is throwing its weight around again. https://www.eurogamer.net/articles/...cancel-orders-following-a-complaint-from-sony

That means no third-party faceplates are allowed since they own the design patent.

What a shame :(

It doesn't even necessarily mean Sony will be releasing their own, I guess. Only that they want to retain the opportunity to do so, without competition.

Pretty sure Sony will offer them and charge us £40 for the privilege.

I had a look through the gamepass library and I swear there was only 2 games that interested me...

Of the 20 games in the PS+ collection, at least 8 are of interest, plus games like Horizon Zero Dawn (£16 for the full game plus expansions on the PS Store).

As for side panels, I'm 100% sure that Sony will be offering these themselves later down the line, hence not allowing 3rd parties to make their own. Look at how many 'edition' ps4 consoles came out.

I think my PS4 knows it's getting replaced soon, had 5 instances over the last two days where the cd keeps randomly ejecting mid game.

Original PS4, laid flat by any chance? I had this issue a while back - someone told me it's because the eject button picks up on heat from the surface it's laid on, and triggers the eject. Try raising it very slightly - I used 2x2p pieces at each corner and it hasn't happened since.

Had to do this with a mates PS4 I borrowed to play RDR2. I think it might be due to the plastic expanding and then the button being pressed due to this. All to do with heat. Propping it up slightly so the button wasn't resting on the surface worked for me too.

cheers, yep its flat on top of the sky box at the moment. will give that a try

Looks like Argos has delisted the PS5 digital one already! Not showing on their site anymore. Hopefully it will get put back when they have further stock.

I think I mentioned this before but as an added FYI, if you're selling/resetting your PS4 ahead of getting a PS5 and aren't planning to copy games/data over from your PS4, make absolutely sure your game saves are uploaded to the online storage first. It will usually do this automatically but only if that game is installed, so if you complete a game then immediately delete it, that completed save won't be uploaded. It's worth checking as I had a few games with saves that were out of sync.

I've not had anything from Amazon myself yet

You sure this is UK?
I know US sent a blanket email to everyone saying they may not get the console on launch - basically an arse-covering exercise.
Australia apparently also sent out emails over the weekend informing some customers may have to wait.
Not heard of any UK customers receiving any delay emails yet.

Or if you don't have PS+, then copy the whole lot of them to a little USB stick. :) They really need to make PlayStation cloud saves free, like Xbox.

Thanks for the heads up, I will check this today. I'm 25 hours into AC: Origins and I know I won't finish it before the PS5 launch, so I want that save to move over.
