*** NVIDIA GEFORCE RTX 3090 SERIES STOCK SITUATION - NO COMPETITOR DISCUSSION ***

I spent the last hour undervolting the Strix OC, if anyone really cares, stable at 1980mhz (does not budge) at 935mv, this lowers the power draw down to 360ish in most titles when maxed, when RT is on, it will hit 400 (with 110% on power draw slider), this also makes most games and benchmarks run at around 66-67deg with 70% fan.

This guy buys a oc card and undervolts lol

Hehe - yeah I might not like it in the flesh - will be plain lit in my build as opposed to rainbow so that might help a little. Worse case scenario I sell it in a few months, lose £200 pounds then pick up a strix - but I'm thankfully in a position where that isn't horrendous (though I expect that is the case for anyone buying a 3090).
I don’t like it either but if I could go with that graphics card (I paid for a Strix OC I want what I bought dammit).
I would have to lean in and get the royal ram.
Although I think it will work loads better in one colour rather than rainbow unicorn.
My PC has always been set to solid blue except my new ram is the dominator rgb so have a dark blue with a light blue water drop effect my case is black.
My girlfriends pc has a black and red case and LEDs are always set to red.
Living room pc is in the white h210i with trident z rgb (not royal) and all LEDs are set to white although white on a 1070 Strix oc looks a little purple it still works

Of course, if I can get the exact same results with using less power why wouldn't i? If you undervolt you have far more headroom to play with in terms of thermals and pushing the clocks.
Excuse me while I hide and pull my foot from my mouth.
I didn’t know you got same performance for less power.
I’m not a overclocker I’ve only recently put a 48 core multiplier on my 7700k ready for the 3090 untill rocket lake comes along.
I guess I’ve picked something up on core voltage along the line and misunderstood as usually hear of over volting for Overclocks
(it all goes over my head)
I’ve had that CPU about 3-4 years and this is my 5th or 6th build and only just did a Overclock and been scared my pc will blow up ever since lol really not something I’m comfortable with.
That’s why I buy OC cards much prefer something boosted out the box and not have to worry I ****ed up something.
All I can do is apologise (not that I care either way your card your money do what you like)
As you were.

Haha all good :-) - the 7700k will run this card fine, i have the 8086k (binned 8700k) at 5ghz, absolutely no issues what so ever (running at 4k), regarding undervolting, check out https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FqpfYTi43TE — explains it in brief and to why.

Thank you.
I told a lie about never over clocking I added a heat sink and overclocked a raspberry pi3 lol
I guess it’s a confidence issue I never got taught by friends or anything I taught myself using YouTube etc, which I assume a lot of people do these days.
I’m pretty confident hardware wise I just get scared of software and settings.
I even did a full custom water cooled build as my first build.
I have since however moved to a AIO on my CPU and leave GPU stock.
A recent wan show by Linus summed it up pretty well he said he doesn’t over clock his home computer he just wants to know it’s going to work every time he wants to play a game not play with settings and software.

Hmm I just found a palit 3090 gamerock due next Tuesday - I wasn't even aware of this card! The overdone bling will actually suit my new build well so I'm giving it a try. It does have 3 power connectors so it has potential to overclock I think? Just not sure how it compares with the strix.

Palit are ace, I loved mine and on checking reviews its as quiet, draws the same watts, as cool and overclocks as well as the Asus Strix OC. If you can live with the bling.

And in stock for tomorrow delivery as well................tempting.

Can you actually see the bling when card is in ? Haven’t seen to much of the backplate of that card.

Watched the video worked out where I confused myself.
Hear of people putting 500 watt bios etc on cards.
Got voltage and wattage confused...
It’s probably for the best I don’t Overclock now I know where I’ve got confused.
Again sorry and thanks for correcting me lol.

I saw that one too, my friends and I were laughing about how long its been in stock for today and still is.
It's got a decent boost clock but that aesthetic is not for me hah. I'd rather stay 400+ in queue for the Strix OC here than have that now, but to each their own!

I started 500th in queue when I placed my order Oct 24th :S have you had any recent updates?

That Gamerock OC is pretty impressive apart from the slightly worse cooler. And still seems to be in stock although the place it is available at has prices that are as gougy as here. That plastic bling though. Ugly.

Lol that’s wishful thinking aka rubbish, no one has confirmed any of this. But the fact that the 20gb 3080 and 16gb 3070 have been cancelled which has been confirmed by literally everyone . Apply some logic here yourself with stock barely meeting demands world wide there won’t be production of those cards till probably end of q2 2021, until all pre orders are fulfilled that’s not gonna happen, seeing people in queue positions in the hundreds for each AIB clearly indicates we won’t see a 30 series refresh for a long time, nvidia can only make so many gpus

Oh hi

Are people cancelling because of 6900 XT or because they fancy chances elsewhere?

Most likely a combination of factors:

1. 3080ti incoming, which is likely to be faster than the 3090 and cheaper
2. 3090 potentially being the shortest lived top card of all time, if the 3080ti is the card we think it will be
3. RX6900 - some will not want to give up Nvidia's DLSS, or RT performance, others don't want to play RT at 40-50FPS at 4k

I'm likely going to get the 3080ti as I think it will be the '1080ti' of this generation.
