Games you're playing, and games...

So with cutting over to the Series X and the added EA Play on Gamepass I've been trying several new games
  • Gears of War 5, looks fantastic but seems the same as every other version so not sure if I'll continue.
  • Burnout Legends, fun to pick up and play for short blasts and the open world seems interesting however doesn't grab my attention in the way Forza Horizon can.
  • Star Wars Battlefront 2, Meh I need to give this more time as first impressions weren't great.
  • Star Wars Fallen Order, now this is more like it, very impressed with this and can seem myself playing through it.
  • Tetris Effect, probably the biggest surprise. Can't think of the amount of hours I would have put into Tetris on the original Gameboy as a kid but have never really enjoyed any of the remakes/versions since. However, this one is great, the visuals and audio really do bring something extra to it.
 
Just wrapped up Journey, never heard of it until tonight

Wow, mind blown. Not so much a play through of a game, Just an experience

Can't recommend it enough :D
 
So, with the set x coming, i got through plays of gears 1 through 4 again so could go through 5.

Stunning game and, honestly, possibly the most enjoyable gears for me. It's difficulty could be a bit all over the place though - number of times I had to drop from experienced to intermediate.

My next single will be cod cw campaign.

Supposed to be observer system redux too, but that was making me motion sick - a first ever for me. Seriously, how could you release such a "wobbly" game and think was ok?
 
Waiting for cyberpunk to come out so I've started going through some of the free ps plus games that I've downloaded over last few months. Just had a hour on vampyr and seems quite promising. Has anyone else played it?
 
Finished AC: Origins yesterday. 40 hours to finish the campaign. I did some exploration but left lots of the map unexplored. A brilliant game I thought. Loved the setting and Bayek and Aya were always interesting characters. A beautiful game too, at times. 8/10. On to Odyssey.

It's something else isn't it.

Abzu is cool too, not as good as Journey but I enjoyed it.

Have you played Fire Watch? Totally different type of game but I went through a period of playing shorter games as was sick of everything being a 40 hour epic I never get to the end of.

Yeah loved Firewatch, really enjoyed that one

I'll give Abzu a blast, I am finding myself playing all these fun short games, tiding myself over to the PS5 - Don't fancy starting anything too lengthy

Yeah I picked Vampyr up on sale. Actually a pretty decent game, the reviews were 50/50 for it so held off for a long time. Quite enjoying the music
and the overall atmosphere of the game and whether to go full blown Vampire or have a conscious. I think it suffers from a few technical issues but
not enough to prevent playing it though. I was hoping to experience the rest of it on the SX but that will have to wait.

I was enjoying the atmosphere and the controls but I found the constant dialogue tedious. Oh well, nothing lost.

Next, the division 2 demo on ps store. Not sure what else if I don't click with that

Snowrunner (Mudrunner on GP was good, this is better) - no current gen patch announced yet
Ride 4 - no current gen patch until next year

I was playing Snowrunner & Ride 4 before getting my Series X, both work fine with quick resume and load so much faster now.

yes, even though I own it, I have never played it for some reason... maybe comments like the above put me off :D

Anyway, finished off Gears 4 on XBSX, nad got through gears 5 - which I think may be my favourite of the lot. Doesn't hurt that it looks greast and runs really well. Though the difficulty all over the place. At times I just had to drop it down to progress.

Also finished off COD CW campaign, which I thought was fun enough. Though the final battle was over a little quick. I thought it was leading to something big, then it was over.... :/

Have been enjoying the MP of it enough too - as a stopgap until next BF.

I did try Observer System redux, but the game was making me feel motion sick - not something I experience in games. It did feel a bit amateurish, but will try again some time.

For now, back to finishing Odyssey on PS4 Pro
 
Played What Remains of Edith Finch on Saturday morning. Absolutely amazing game and I kind of wished I had played it on something with better graphics than the Switch. Very emotional and the visual storytelling was sublime at times. Very creative and I'm so glad I played it.
 
Thanks to gamepass I have a fair bit on the go, I'm playing Gears of War:Judgement as I missed it the first time around, I'm also playing Mudrunner, The Touryst, Sunset Overdrive, Lonely Mountains Downhill, Super Luckys Tale, Dirt 4.

Then multiplayer stuff, Tetris Effect Connected, Forza Horizon 4, Sea of Thieves, Fortnite.

I've got downloaded but yet to play, Halo Master Chief Collection, Doom Eternal, Gears 4, Gears 5, Batman Arkham Knight, Forza Motorsport 7 and Gears of War Ultimate Edition!
