Games you're playing, and games...

Thanks. And do you know of Dragon Age II? I have flagged up one of them with Corypheus in (Inquistion dude) not sure about the others.

Origins is one of the best RGPs ever made. A lot of the characters you encounter will return in 2 and 3. The lore is also a lot deeper.
DA2...I'm sorry it's one of the most disappoiting sequels ever made. It does introduce Corypheus, but in a dlc(one about the wardens) The other dlc I thought was poor. Is it worth playing?...I suppose if you like the Dragon Age world, but there are so many flaws in the game's design I could never replay it.

Origins is on another level to DA2.

PS. The only dlc for Origins not great iirc is the Return to Ostagar one. Not great, but you get a nice armour from it

I am so bored of videos games and yet they are the one thing I can be bothered to do now in the evenings. I need help.

I've played what feels like all the games I want to play, but km sure there's loads left to play.

Atm I feel like playing a game that involves long time (have too much free time) such as ark, Minecraft, subnautica and as these games you build something and can look back at x amount of hours put in and see the reward, where as games like COD, after the 15 minutes is done, that's it your progress is gone and nothing to show.

Hoping someone can suggest something on xbox ideally that I can play to keep me going and kill some time.

A good rts would be ideal, however I'm yet to see one on xbox, using a controller that I like.
. I do have a gaming pc too BTW, I just would prefer to be on the sofa rather than more time in the study, though open to pc suggestions too.

Recently I've played,

  • Dbd
  • ARK
  • Wildlands
  • SEA of thieves
  • Battlefield 5
  • The way out
  • Mafia 1 and 3
  • Red dead 2
  • Rocket league
  • Jedi fallen order
  • Tried witcher 3 but not feeling connected to this world.
  • Factorio
  • No man's sky
  • Age of empires 2
  • Crusader kings 3
  • And many other games I've since forgot

You're just looking at it in completely the wrong way. Gaming isn't an investment, its entertainment. Pouring hours into making something in minecraft has no more value than 15 minutes on CoD if you enjoy both equally.

The thing you build in any video game almost never has any value in the real world and if you are trying to equate gaming to productivity you are going to have a bad time.

It should be a pretty simple question. Do I enjoy playing the game.

IMO, I would feel like I had wasted my time playing minecraft because its just a way to build crap looking environments that you could build using proper software designed for that and actually gain a useful skill at the same time. Some people clearly disagree with my sentiment however as its quite popular I understand :p

Sounds like your issues run a bit deeper than finding the right game.

To be clear, I see no issue with either, it's just what I'm feeling like I'd like right now due to the amount of time I have. Quick games like cod are great for a time when I don't have say 5 hours that evening to spend as it get boring, where as when you have say just 40 minutes, a game like Minecraft isn't so fun either as it's too quick to really do anything.

Right now due to covid, my evenings are free and I've done all the games I enjoyed that I can find.

I kind of relate to what Apex is saying. I think at some time we have all got to the point where gaming isn't hitting the spot?. Even to the point I would sit there playing
something but just not enjoying it. Whether we have too much choice or not enough it is different for everyone I guess, might even be my age :). I used to play one game for
over 2-3 years when I was younger. Deltaforce 2 and then Ravenshield. Granted they were MP games so that was the draw and also the social aspect on comms with mates. However I just wanted
to play those games and get better at them. I still go through phases at the moment where I will smash a new game for like 2 weeks then drop it as I don't feel like playing it
then transition to another game and repeat the cycle. Always scouring the sales to see if there is something 'new' to experience. These are primarily SP games as I don't play many MP on console.
I find myself playing a lot of open world games as they offer a persistent world where you can grind for better loot or add to settlement development etc. Then i have my quick gratification style games like COD or BFV.

Have you tried Fallout 4 Apex? can pick that up cheap, it is pretty good on the Xbox X. I have it on PC but like you, at the moment just want to chill on the sofa. Can invest time in it and see your settlements develop.
Lots of DLC for it too. State of Decay 2, another open world (within reason) where you can invest time and develop a small community. It has permadeath which keeps you on your toes. Good fun in coop too.

Maybe hit up some COOP with mates? do you think that is missing. You never stipulated whether you play with randoms or run with mates on MP.
I have started playing BFV more consistently now due to covid. I do the Single player games as a filler when I have had enough or running after flags points in conquest.

Fair play, sounds like I completely missed your point! :p

There is just so much choice these days. Literally a few games coming out every week on every console so its harder than ever to focus. I was the same when I was younger and I would play a single game for months because thats all I had.

Now I find that my psych for gaming comes and goes. I have a Switch and I love a lot of the games but sometimes I just don't have the desire to sit down and get into them. I like a game that I can pick up, play 20-30 minutes and put it down again. There are loads of games that I would love to play on a PS5 as I haven't had a PS4 for a few years and there are loads of games I have missed but I just don't have the time these days.

Same goes for all aspects of life. You just have to appreciate that you don't always have much motivation to do some things and perhaps take a step back and have a break.

I'm finding the lack of being able to get an Xbox Series X|S or PS5 has rekindled my interest in PC. I'm actually downloading stuff that's been sitting in my Steam library for years and never played. So in a way, I'm thankful there is no stock.

I played fallout 4 when it first fame out, but didn't like the world. I'm not a fan of post apocalypse worlds nor zombie ones tbh, but thanks for the suggestions.

Is there a game like ark? I spent over 400 hours on that just playing with 1 other friend.

Yeah I think too much choice is part of the problem , if you can see it as a problem. Some wouldn't. It is choice, and yes not just in games but in life. I'm going to feel old saying this but when I was young

Hmmm Conan Exiles is ok and might be similar to Arm, with the exception of setting and time period, that is pretty cool you can build settlements or bases and grind for resources. You can get thralls to
do automated work for you etc, monsters go go bashing etc can be a giggle playing that. Also can play online on actual servers or just host your own servers I think locally, which would be the best way
to play I imagine, depends what flicks your switch.

On PC I think The Forest is a good blast, good bit of resource gathering and base building whilst trying to stay alive from being attacked by odd creatures and cannibals, with a feint storyline mixed in.
It was in Beta when I played it so might have been updated a lot since.

Hmmm you mentioned a good RPG before, Divinity original sin II is a belta of a game and good fun in coop, with good humour thrown in!

Yeah that's a good shout actually, I was just checking through my steam collection to suggest a game or two for Apex. Those steam sales have a lot to answer for! I may have to install some of those untouched purchases.

Taking a break from odyssey which is beginning to feel a bit long, and getting through doom eternal. I think am getting too old for such hectic games.

Halo 3, its drawn me away from everything else :p

I hear you on that one. I only completed Doom 2016 because of the first lockdown and the need to expend some energy somewhere :p

Running through Valhalla atm, might add in another game as there is so so much content on AcV..
I just finished Odyssey at just under 50 hours. A slog but a very enjoyable one. Kassandra is awesome such a great character. Loved the Greek setting and the ship battles. 9/10.

Started Valhalla but as above I may cut it up a bit with something else because I know this will also be a slog. Beautiful on the PS5 too. I've got Spiderman Remastered and Days Gone installed so I might start there.

have a look at hunter call of the wild. something different and surprisingly good.

Found two new games via PS Now tonight, both of which are very intriguing. Vermintide II and The Surge 2. I hate Dark Souls but the latter has got a great take on the genre so I’m going to keep playing it even if it makes me mad.
