It sounds like every Intel CPU that works in those motherboards will be able to use the feature...unlike AMD's motherboards where the feature currently doesn't work on most CPU's that work in 500 series motherboards.
 
SAM will probably come to the 3xxx series at least, probably a mixture of USP and validation. Not quite sure the USP thing really helped with so little stock though.

Cam someone do a video comparison of games with SAM enabled and disabled? Would be nice to see actual gameplay than look at a few bar charts.

Be interesting to know if with both AMD/Nvidia SAM has any improvement at 4K or if the usual GPU bottlenecks come into play.
 
Hmm, seeing the Gamerx Nexus 3060Ti review and all of the comparisons within it has really made me re-consider a 6800XT. While rasterization performance is great, the AMD's get absolutely crushed in RT performance in general, especially with NVDLSS enabled. If AMDLSS isn't released soon and in a well topiised state then even the 6900XT is going to look bad vs lower Ampere cards.

It's clear that DLSS, either NV or AMD, is going to be very important in 2021/2022 to get good performance from next-generation RT titles and anyone who says it doesn't matter is kidding themselves.

We need to judge future games that have been built with next generation consoles for RDNA2 RT in mind before we can fairly judge first gen Amd Ray tracing.

But sure I do agree DLSS is a great tech to buy into if that is what you need/games you play support it.

DLSS has suprised me it want from being a disaster to now something I looking forward to seeing how Amd implement.

He only had 3 RT games, two of them Control and Minecraft, yes the 6000 series does really bad, its completely broken at something like 20 FPS, the one other was SOTTR and the RT performance on the 6800 (None XT) was faster than the 3060TI and equal to the 3070.

I wouldn't judge RT performance now and for the future on Steve Burke's 3 games 2 of which are broken on the RX cards, if you're just looking at his reviews you would come away from it thinking Nvidia's RT performance is literally 500% better, as he likes to put it. Too much hyperbole Steve.
There are newer games than this where the RT performance is better than Nvidia, i wouldn't pick an 8GB card that's probably going to age even worse than Turning because Steve Burke said Nvidia's RT performance is 500% better, i think that would be very unwise.

BTW Control and Minecraft will never get fixed and Steve Burke will keep using the to measure AMD's overall RT performance ignoring everything else, best to see more than one review.

Quite simple. Amd got sam working with current chipset between them and Intel. You post a fallcious comment implicating that amd has abandoned their customers. When all amd did was made sure current mb are supported.

By 2021 sam support is allegedly coming to x400 series mb through mb manufactures. Along with support for the 5000 series cpus. Which ones remain to be seen.

That to me that is why I say it is a trigger post. Because it was said that AMD wouldn't expound on sam. Which wasn't true. That Nvidia would do it themselves via drivers which has not surfaced at the time of this post. That is the post you replied to.

These things take time and require validation. Probably why there has not been that talked about driver update from Nvidia enabling SAM support yet.

AMD is supporting "current chipsets"?

That's an interesting, yet seemingly misleading, way to make it appear that AMD is covering a lot more hardware than they actually are.

AMD only supports SAM on their latest *CPU's*.

I understand the issue is that if you just "enable resizeable BAR" there's scenarios where it lowers performance.

However AMDs SAM gives between 0 and low double figure gains and no negatives.

AMD has said they'll accommodate Nvidia and Intel in using resizeable BAR but I don't know about them sharing the details of the work they did to make it run in a useful way.

Have to wait and see i guess.

It's a nice free performance boost of anywhere between 5-15% at the moment for users of all AMD systems.
