so basically don't waste your money on high end big Navi cards, just buy the cheapest model cause all of them are cucked by AMD's bad bios design with arbitrary limits that makes it seem like AMD hates overo

I am sorry but this comment is rubbish because no base model card is getting the maximum mhz that it is locked too which means better cooled models will still have the higher mhz, they will also be cooler & quieter than a base model. If you are watercooling nothing changes because you pretty much always want the reference model anyways.

He did a good breakdown but he is throwing the baby out with the bathwater. I don't consider LN2 options in a buying decision although i agree that support needs to be given to the Professionals that want to do it.

That's why Galax will launch a 3090 hall-of-fame but you won't be able to use it for LN2 properly unless you buy a OC Lab edition direct from them in HK/Taiwan and even then you need a special licence to get hold of the voltage control software.

I don't think the clock speed setting is a problem on the Red Devil, nor is the TDP as the reviews confirmed the card is not hitting the power-limit wall at 2700+ - he would probably already know this. The 3080 Ultra FTW3 out of the box is +5% TDP only, you have to flash the card to get +19% and even then it over-clocks by a whole 50mhz.

The limits are the chips, it will be interesting to see how the powercolor 6800XT/6900XT liquid devil bios pans out but we are going to have to wait until CES i think.

If you are watercooling you are spending WAY over the reference model price anyways.

Fixed.

Why that? You mean for the cost of all the watercooling stuff? Only asking because for me the cost of water-cooling for the tubing, fixings and block is an extra £150 over the reference model price but the point was you don't buy an AIB card at that extra price and then rip off that cooler cause there is zero net performance gain and that has been the case for a good few generations.

I find it very sad that people look to find faults in good solid cards like the big Navi ones.

They have only been available for a very short time yet have done more for gaming in the last few years than anything else, they have scared the living daylights out of NVidia and forced them to react.

Ampere may be expensive but it would have cost a lot more for a lot less without the big Navi cards to deal with.

Find it 'very sad'? Goodness grief, stop being such a drama llama. Just because AMD are now competing far better than before it doesn't mean they are exempt from valid criticisms.

fix that for you

Protip:
Buildzoid trashed the 5700xt Nitro+ for not being "as robust", etc. Yet I am still able to get around 2120Mhz even though it does fluctuate (max is 2150Mhz) daily in Division 2/WD:G/etc which he implicitly talked against about the card. When there are plenty of 5700xt AIBs that can't do 2100Mhz daily.

So, in other words, don't take his "opinion" as gospel. Other then his explanation of the bits and pieces on the pcb. He's a complete and utter Sapphire Toxic fanboy from AMD's side of video cards. So, if one comes out I would make sure I get a second opinion vs Nitro+ if one ever comes out.

The new RX cards are really bad in MineCraft and Control with RT on, so bad that in those games RT is quite obviously completely broken on the RX cards, the RT in those was designed for RTX, which is very different to DXR, Nvidia use a completely different ASync engine to AMD and they are not cross compatible, the whole thing would have to get rewritten to work properly on RDNA2 and that will never get done.

That's fine, we have to accept that some RTX games are just never going to run properly on AMD's cards.

What i find a little frustrating is that there are several RT games now that run very well with RT on AMD's GPU's, sometimes better than Ampere, but as usual, and Steve Burke is also guilty of this, people only want to show you the worst, ignore why its so bad and then claim this is an example of AMD's overall RT performance.

We always knew if AMD became competitive again people will not have learned their lesson and go right back to expending a lot of time and energy to hate on the Leather Jacket mans competitor, its like a religion, Steve Burke (Gamers Nexus) especially should know better.

Experience dictates (for me) that any reviewer is there are a secondary source of information and to DYOR. If you can get access to friends/people with the equipment and test your own conditions you will find most of the opinions thrown out are always skewed to their agenda's.
