Why are you sure? Could you turn RT on on Godfall-Nvidia? Is using the same DXR.

I can't see any issue why at the driver level you cannot turn on RT. Nvidia have already stated that they are using DXR for RT in this title. Do you really think CDPR would block AMD hardware?

Yes of course. The same as Godfall blocked Nvidia hardware. These new games can help Nvidia and AMD to sell more cards so if you can do it then why not? :)

Oh the poor Big Navi, will only do 5-10 FPS with RT, not 15-20 FPS like the mighty Ampere. :)
Good thing they enabled it for Nvidia, playing with RT will be a life changer.

Yet Ampere comes with Tensor cores allowing DLSS in turn increasing FPS to 40+. Remember also that Ampere's RT cores are seperate from the shaders. Both RT and Tensor can run in parallel when creating these hybrid scenes, so my 1/3rd suggestion was being very favourable to AMD.

I don't get why people are so against new tech, especially on what is considered to be an enthusiats forum. They used to have an organ playing in theaters, people said adding sound to movies was just a fad...

I have nothing against tensor cores and DLSS and i have nothing against people lowering their settings to get more FPS. All i wanted to say it is not a huge difference in performance with RT on, they both suck. 40-50 FPS with lower 1% is still a very bad experience. The reality is almost no one will play with RT on if this is indeed the real FPS you can get on that game. You will enable it, look around, take some screenshots then disable it and play the game without RT.

@EastCoastHandle What is wrong with this image?

I'll be playing it at 1440p, RT ultra, DLSS quality. It's why I bought a next gen card. This isn't some twitch shooter, it's an RPG. And as I've said many times, I'm not a pro gamer. I just play games to relax, have fun.

Sure, sure we could argue philosophically about it. However, technically I disagree. Because to this very day RT hasn't created a triple A titled game. Nor causes a "no name game" to be a blockbuster or game that sold historic copies.

Furthermore, RT has to be marketed as being "available" in a particular game instead of standing on it's own as showing enhanced IQ. Because marketing still needs to let the audience know that RT is being used. As it's not obvious unless you point it out.

The fact that people debate RT on forums means that it important to a significant number of users, this very solidly backs the point of view that it is important to a sizable part of the market.

As to graphics in general, it should be gameplay and not pretty visuals that is the major selling point of any game title. I don't think any single advance in graphics has been the top reason that the majority of people buy a particular new game but pretty visuals can be the cherry on top.

The debate is a much more vocal minority then anything else IMO. If HU polls are anything to go on.

If a particular IQ feature helps bring better immersion it becomes a selling point. The problem starts in the way it's made available to the public. IE: Vender locking mechanics tying it to nvidia, for example. Which has been the down fall of those advancements for years now.
-Hairworks
-Physx
-etc.

This only goes back to what I said earlier. RT is marketed heavily in games in order to bring awareness to it because without it many wouldn't notice. And, by doing so are simply piggy back on popular AAA titles in order to gain popularity.

And the hit will be crazy. The 6800xt is already like 40% under the 3090 with RT off and that's with the 3090 only managing 20fps at 4k with RT on Ultra. Since AMD cards don't have a dlss competitor it's hard to imagine ray tracing working - in the games current state it would 100% unplayable with rayvtracing turned on using an AMD card
That's easy to do when you cherry pick your result grim. /Rolleyes

It is a tiny minority on both sides of the argument, the majority of people who buy games do not spend time on forums, they just want them to run and don't give a hoot about what tech has been used to do the visuals.

As to locking in tech this has failed badly with RTX and NVidia, AMD have definitely decided the tech has a future hence their latest 6 series cards have started to use it.

If a tech is really worthwhile to a manufacturer they will find a way to implement it even if their rivals try and lock it in to their systems.

Both NVidia and AMD think Ray Tracing is worth doing (they are the ones with the market research numbers), this is something I can't argue with.

For the record I am not a fan of RT but I do know plenty of people on these forums are.

Says all that needs to be said doesn’t it ;)

Toss a VRAM Gb to your @TNA ;) :p
lol :D

No clue what the hype is for this game either, only heard about it over the last year and not really looked into it at all. I know Keanu Reeves is involved and the green brigade are spooging their frillies about ray tracing in it but besides that. =/
Been aware and looking forward to it since 2012. Way way before we knew it was an nvidia title. Has been my most anticipated game for a few years now :)
