The reviews are saying RT is done well in this title. I'll take the FPS hit at 1440p, but I'm not a pro gamer.

from history this game will be gimped until Vulcan RT is implemented i.e. probably never.

People fall for this Nvidia scam every single time until AMD come along and help the industry with an open API. It's one of the reasons why I don't want to feed the Nv beast anymore of my money.

20fps at 4k ultra on a 3090 seems pretty poor to me.

Well considering the 3090 is pretty much the best performing card out there in the majority of games then yes I would say the game is very demanding, and people keep seeming to forget that all reviews and comments on performance are without the day 1 patch that is specifically for bug fixes, performance and optimisation improvements. Wait 3 days and actual valid opinions can be made. I can't help but think that since the main delays were for getting the game to run reasonably on the OG XB1 and PS4 that they must have been working very hard on performance optimisation which we already know isn't there until release date.

You put your opinion as fact though, which isn't how it works. Me personally think that RT is superb and will be the future. Lighting and shadows look so realistic but I also appreciate why some can't see the difference from forced shadows and lighting.
Actually, yes that's exactly how it works because as you interrupted it's my opinion.
:D

This just sound like trolling now. BTW. Steve from HU and his co-presenter both use Nvidia cards within their personal systems.
Start at 14:40.
What card they use has absolutely nothing to do with it. Steve's view align with my own. RT doesn't offer any tangible benefit worth enabling in games. Unless I want to look at puddles/glass. LOL

What Ray Tracing does for a persons gaming experience only they can say, for some it will be fantastic for others it is of little use.

Each person must make their own mind up about RT as no two people see things the same way.
Sure, sure we could argue philosophically about it. However, technically I disagree. Because to this very day RT hasn't created a triple A titled game. Nor causes a "no name game" to be a blockbuster or game that sold historic copies.

Furthermore, RT has to be marketed as being "available" in a particular game instead of standing on it's own as showing enhanced IQ. Because marketing still needs to let the audience know that RT is being used. As it's not obvious unless you point it out.

I have the same feelings on ray tracing tbh. All the hype about it is BS. It's still too much of a performance hit for me to ever be bothered enabling it. I'd rather the game just ran smoother. When am I gonna notice how much nicer shadows look....? Especially in a fast paced game. Substantial performance hit for no reason.

It's total marketing. Something I hinted at with Kaapstad. You will notice everytime a game has RT it will be marketed as having RT. Because they know if they said nothing about RT very few would notice it other then the performance hit.

:D

I don't disagree with battlefield V, but if 8 years is a rushed game I'm not sure whats real anymore :D

No clue what the hype is for this game either, only heard about it over the last year and not really looked into it at all. I know Keanu Reeves is involved and the green brigade are spooging their frillies about ray tracing in it but besides that. =/

A rushed game? Hmm......
That french website review talks about bugs everywhere, poor AI like enemies that won't move even if you shoot at them ( even a boss fight where the boss is a sitting duck), bad car driving implementation and so on.
That's why i said it is a rushed game.
Maybe the visuals are great and if one likes slide shows, he can enable RT on Nvidia cards. But then, many people have a problem with excessive RGB lights on PC's but the same people will love the unicorn farts in this game.

I'd hope Steve's understanding of RT goes further than looking at puddles / glass if he's looking to review hardware.

"But CDPR is working with AMD to get it in soon." (Let's be honest, it's an Nvidia sponsored game, it's hardly a surprise. I'm waiting for the whole fun of Crysis comedy to have been deliberately put in there just in RT form. Tessellation with thousands of polygons on flat surfaces anyone?)

It's single player. Hardly an issue if you need to wait a little bit. If you really want RT, then buy the Nvidia card though.

I haven't bought a system to play ONE game in years. I stopped doing that. It's a fools game.

And the hit will be crazy. The 6800xt is already like 40% under the 3090 with RT off and that's with the 3090 only managing 20fps at 4k with RT on Ultra. Since AMD cards don't have a dlss competitor it's hard to imagine ray tracing working - in the games current state it would 100% unplayable with rayvtracing turned on using an AMD card

It's using Microsoft's DXR, which AMD, Intel and Nvidia have had input on. Only DLSS is proprietory.

I'm sure AMD could turn on RT today, but it would be 1/3rd the performance of Nvidia.

This has been my experience. I'll be honest, I pretty much don't notice if RT is on or off half the time.. I definitely noticed it in Control though, because the reflections were obnoxious and waaaaaaaaaaay too sharp at long range to be realistic - but I guess it's showing off the RT tech so.... *shrug*

That's why it's disabled at launch - cause the rdna2 cards would be rocking 5fps with RT on at 4k.Something has to give if they expect RT to ever run halfway decent on AMd cards in this game, either the developer will release a patch later that significantly lowers the RT image quality or AMD launches its DLSS competitor soon.

for the next gen consoles that's a given anyway, the RT image quality will see a massive downgrade over the current PC game when they receive that update - on the ps5 they'd be targeting 1440p 30fps with reduced RT image quality and I think that can work

Oh the poor Big Navi, will only do 5-10 FPS with RT, not 15-20 FPS like the mighty Ampere. :)
Good thing they enabled it for Nvidia, playing with RT will be a life changer.

Fake news. We should expect much more FPS. I think Big Navi will hit 15 (during the day when no one is around) and Ampere might hit 25FPS with RT on. :D

" FYI: Cyberpunk currently has DRM that is only active for reviewers and is known to reduce performance. Will not be active on launch day, therefore any testing published today will not accurately reflect launch performance. CDPR warned us of this, so we are waiting for launch day." GN

Steve has echoed this a few times in other videos. Although I cannot speak for him I would guess he has a grasp of the situation.

Why are you sure? Could you turn RT on on Godfall-Nvidia? Is using the same DXR.
LOL, nice clap back. I'm sure feigning ignorance about the differences in how RT is used differently in Nvidia DXR 1.0 vs AMD DXR 1.1 flow right by him.

Well, "It is the way..." (nvidia way)

Lets be honest, if its not "over done" and so obnoxious and obtrusive you won't notice the difference. That's why they do it. To make you think that RT is actually worth having. At the cost of FPS no less, LOL.

CP2077 is possibly the most hyped game of the last decade.

Chances of it failing to live up to the hype are extremely good. It may still be a good game, but at this point people are expecting it to cure cancer and make them breakfast in bed.
