Final Fantasy VII - "Remake"

Was Aerith always this "simple"? By simple I mean she acts like she's 5 yrs old. It's quite jarring when compared to other characters that seem to have more depth or at least comedic value.

Yes and no.

She's certainly more happy go lucky than the rest, which is a welcome break from the general anguish of the other characters. But her character has a deep, old wisdom, she's supposed to be representing someone with a deeper connection to the world but also someone who is "the best of them".

Hence the impact of her death.

I get that. But I still think they could have fleshed her out a little more. Though it's still early game. Right now feels like I'm her dad.

Ha, I think I know what you mean. I think early game, Cloud literally feels like that, like she's a pain in his backside.

Let us know if your thoughts change as you finish the game.
 
I'm on chapter 16. It started of great seems to be dragging now a bit. Fair few filler chapters. They could have definitely shortened this.

Must admit despite my initial criticism of Aerith she really does develop. Very likeable and that innocence she demonstrates at the start is more subtle sympathy and experience she patiently displays towards Cloud.

I hope it picks up because it starts great and it's been downhill (pacing) recent episodes.

2. Pointless locked doors and museum walkthrough
3. Pointlessly slow moments like going through the vent.

I've gone from 9/10 to 7/10. What have they done to the pacing and then introduced archaic mechanisms? Does it get better?

Main problem with the game, BS fillers instead of getting straight to it.

Not really

I put the game down just before I started chapter 16 and had an extended break before getting into it, dunno of that made it better or worse tbh.

It does get a little unexpected at the end.

As a fan glad I played it. Hope they learn for future installments. Remove all the filler and it would have been a more refined experience.

The ending was a mixed bag (I only played the very start of the original). Despite the museum walk through they didn't actually explain some things and not sure what I think about the whispers.

Yeah, I've completed the original 3 times and clocked up over 200hrs (my second play through was extended and I went for everything I could)

I enjoyed this remake, it's got enough extra to make it feel new but I'm not 100% sure the extra bits stand up to the original content if you know what I mean?

Its the next part that's always worried me, understanding how they would do the first part was easy as it's enclosed and fairly on rails.. Once you hit that open world and start to dart back and forth I'm not sure how they will approach it.
 
Worst part of the game for me was dropping down into the lobby after jumping across hanging lights, then glancing back up and seeing a purple chest with Tifas damn fists in it!

Missed my one chance lol.

Amazing game for me. I agree with some filler stuff.

I didn't even notice them. I never felt like the weapons made all that much difference.
 
Just finished it. Was wishing for it to be over a long time before it did. Enjoyed the game a lot more once I put combat on easy and didn't have the tedium of the combat to worry about.
Most the parts I enjoyed were the non combat parts, just walking around seeing the locations reimagined. I don't think it's a game I'll ever replay unlike the original but I'm glad I played it. Solid 7/10 for me.

They appeal to the completionist in me. Also the fact every weapon has a learnable skill associated. I hate not having something lol.

I did the same thing with difficulty at the end. Just wanted to finish it and not go through cycles of healing and damage dealing :o

I'm glad I played it. Just won't play it again.
