Is it just me or are the 30 series REALLY finicky when it comes to riser cables? Tried 2 that worked fine with my Vega 64 and running into different issues on each.

Think I'm gonna wipe down the connectors with IPA and give them a blast of compressed air to see if a bit of dust is causing issues. Could also be pcie slot settings, will have a look there as well.

I thought risers were an issue with all PCIe 4.0? Never used one myself but I've read that it can cause issues.

Its in auto mode in the bios so going to reset it to 3.

Yeah PCIE4 is not compatible with the existing risers not sure whether there are any out yet that are.

Interesting temps in different games 3070 FE, stock card fan curve, constant case fans, undervolt 850mv/1830MHz VRAM +1000MHz:
Quake 2 RTX 74C fan 52%
Superposition 71C fan 47%
Control Ultra RTX DLSS 720 > 1440 scaling 67C fan 38% (uses less than 240W total coz the PSU fan doesn't spin up)

I thought risers were an issue with all PCIe 4.0? Never used one myself but I've read that it can cause issues.

It’s because PCIE 4 relies on short runs, something that risers are the complete opposite of.

My sis is a partly for a living streamer with a 3080 strix. Think she uses nvenc. That's plenty good enough, I'm sure the 3090 is legit too

Still messing with settings currently, i'm honestly astounded at the amount of issues this can cause.

So far:

Games crashing out or saying "invalid id".
Internet connection going odd with any downloads automatically being corrupted.
Unable to update geforce drivers as 1 of 2 things happens, not enough space (70+ gigs free) or the package is corrupt somehow.

The last 3090FE was available to buy for over 40 minutes so yes it was easy. Although in another reality that sentence sounds quite stupid.

yeah the 3080FE is a totally different game to the 3090FE, granted the 3090 is much easier to get now.

Oh believe me, I know it isn't. I've been trying since launch. Last drop I got once in my basket and accidentally used the wrong card, and by the time I corrected it they were gone. But still....patience.

thats a shame as someone mentioned recently they were now reserving in basket, maybe thats not the case then

Yes. You actually purchase from one of OcUK's competitors, but they don't advertise them on their site. Only the Nvidia site via a unique link every time.
