Bit the bullet and ordered a 12 Pro Max, should get it tomorrow. Upgrading from the XS Max, bit nervous about the squared-off edges making a bit less comfortable to hold/use but will see how I go. Would usually have gone to the Apple Store and had a play with one first but not an option at the moment obviously!

Give it some time - it's a bigger phone, and feels bigger due to the squared off edges anyway, so it does take some getting used to.

I do prefer the curved design to the flat edge design when holding but I’ve gotten used to it. You won’t be disappointed, I’m actually impressed by the 12 pro.

Bought a Rhinoshield screen protector. Expensive for what it is, but it came within 3 days of ordering. Application was easy and I find it much better than the usual tampered glass type which I tried 2 of, and the fitment was very poor.

Thanks for the feedback. I'll give it a try when it turns up tomorrow and let you know how I get on. Looking forward to the big upgrade in camera quality over my XS Max more than anything else.

Updated my 12 Pro to 14.3 and now text messages don't come through, forcing me to flick airplane mode on/off... But when they do about an hour later, I get notifications again!!!

Either way, I've missed the smoothness of iPhones.

The thing I missed the most when I switched to Android was the consistency of Apps. Even some of the major ones were missing features or felt 'janky'.

So first impressions of the 12 Pro Max.... love it. I really thought that I might dislike the squared off edges but it somehow feels more ‘substantial’ and premium - and it’s easier to grip than my XS Max was. Size wise, it’s barely any bigger as far as I’m concerned so no issue there. Really liking the blue colour too - again wasn’t sure based on the photos online i had seen of it but it’s actually really nice. Will be testing out the camera tomorrow, hoping for good things!

Back to using my 12 Pro without a case. Since we're at home most of the time I don't worry as much about it (famous last words) and it is so much better without a case.

It is a lovely phone in the hand when caseless. Although ironically I’d bet (as with most accidents) most phone breakages happen in the home, complacency and all that - and I’m speaking from experience :p
I’m actually awaiting delivery of the Apple leather case today but rocking my 12 naked at the minute.

Yes indeed. I have the leather case too but one drawback in my mine for the 12 version is it has a "lip" all around the edge including the bottom edge of the screen. This can make swipe up a little awkward occasionally and it means fluff / pocket lint has nowhere to run off when wiping down. For my previous iPhones, the leather case always had the bottom edge clear.

In the last week my 2 cases have arrived for my 12 Pro. 1st was the Peel case which is thin and feels very good. The 2nd one is the MNML case. This is even thinner and the perfect choice for those that want the near naked feel but with some protection.

Though they do offer some protection (Most likely scratches and the like) it unlikely they'll do much in a big drop.

While not cheap, I have a pitaka case on my 12 mini, and can’t fault it. Great feather light case which doesn’t have a lip on top or bottom so it’s easy to wipe away lint and dust.

I had a Pitaka case for my XS, it wasn't cheap but it did the job well. So I wanted to get one for my 12 Pro but they've not been in stock each time I looked (they were initially due for release in late November) but the US site shows stock so I'll see if they're available now.

Amazon seem to have stock ? Worth a check

The Pitaka cases look very svelte indeed however I think it could be too slim as one of the main reasons I use a case is to eliminate the camera bump, vis-à-vis rocking on a flat surface which can be really annoying.

My 12 Pro Max went mental last night, the phone was hot to the touch and the battery drained by 25% in an hour without any activity by me as I’d left it to cool down. Perfectly fine today though...

Do you use Waze? It's happened once or twice to me, where it looks like Waze has shut down, but seems to be still running in the background.

Yeah there’s still a bump with the pitaka. I rarely rest my phone of flat surfaces though to be honest. Thinnest case I’ve ever owned though :D
