Expecting quite a large bill as even though the service is free the car through some air bag warnings and AVS warnings for parking brake so think battery is on its way and they are replacing the mirror control trim piece that broke which is a few hundred quid for a piece of plastic, plus a warranty extension as £2800 for the year for peace of mind. Of course it may need some other work too, gonna need a new set of brake disc all round next year I reckon too so that won’t be cheap.

We've been looking at these recently, well the P300e accross the Evoque, Disco Sport and E-Pace. What's it like to live with in the real world? The appeal of a 20mile round drip to work on EV only is the appeal.

I really liked it, quite calming as you don't have the bonkers power available so sort of encourages a more measured approach to driving, engine startup on demand was very well integrated and I quite liked the 3 cylinder warble. Although its seen as EV mode its reall is quite different to a full BEV where you have the flux flex of throttle available without the engine kicking in which, being honest with myself, encourages you to drive like a bit of an idiot. :D

Certainly puts refinement up another level compared to any of the other engines, particularly the diesels! In the new Autobiography spec the Evoque really is quite a compelling premium product now, especially with that Garnet red leather

Thanks. We're (She's) after something with a bit better economy than our current XC60 T5, and even if I wanted one the diesels aren't that much better I don't think. But her 20mile round trip to work in mostly EV mode should be quite good I think. Would like to try and get one for a day or so to really see how it is, but obviously everywhere is closed at the moment so we can't even look.

That really is quite a nice car :) I'm also dropping a fair bit on brakes this year, and warranty extensions next but honestly it is worth it for the peace of mind.

haha OcUK = black wheels are chavy. Corner sofas are chavy. Someone asked in a thread about fitting a cement mixer in the back of a Golf. Combine the lot you have OcUK at it's finest.

Aaah yes, of course. Thanks, I had obviously forgotten about corner sofas! That along with the one thousand other things that were designated as such in that thread. I think all we realised was there are few safe havens.

Honestly though, I’ve really gone off silver alloys on most cars in general. Especially in this case with a yellow hot hatch, I think gunmetal or graphite coloured alloys would look much better.

Thank you, car is done and ready for collection, has cost me £3500 for the privilege, £2800 on warranty and £700 on new exhaust catalyst mounts. They flagged the ceramic disc, £13,000 for a new set but advised not urgent and to wait until the pads have worn out, currently on 8mm, not sure what they are new but it had new pads when I purchased the car a couple years ago so at this rate it won't be need disc for another year or two anyway and I am still tempted to explore what steel options are available as the ceramics are not great on the 458.

Also the M5 continues to rack up the bill, garage is still working on it as poly bushing most the suspension, plus replacing worn items as they come across them, its had new fuel pumps, charcoal canister, all bushes so far and now exploring the steering issues which they hope just needs a fluid flush and change, otherwise will be a new rack.

Cars absolute money pits!

I wonder how many sets of ceramic brakes are actually sold in the UK for the 458s...

You need a very strong desire to keep it OEM in order to outlay that level of cash on something that wears out relatively quickly. I assume switching to steel has no implications for the warranty as it's a consumable?

My latest car Jag XKR, was planning to get one mid 2019 until job losses came. Finally was in a position to get one last November, 2010 5.0 supercharged V8, 503 bhp. I do love it its scary quick, handles well and yet very comfortable, im not sure how they achieved that. Do miss my old Jag 95 XJ though, that had soul.

In all seriousness I'd love to drive one, and actually agree that anthracite or gunmetal would look fantastic on the example.
