Hi there
Pretty much manage to fix all the issues the Corvette came with, passenger door not unlocking, faulty side light, rock hard ride, lots of rattles and creaks.
Bit of grease, new bulb, dropping the new tyres from 40psi to 25psi and going through the entire car with leather feed and securing anything loose and using foam where items rattle.
Took it out again today, is a much nicer drive now mainly down to correct tyre pressure, car feels pretty strong too, gets to 60 fine and for something so old in the dry it seems to corner pretty direct and the brakes are fantastic. I’ve floored it and it kicks down nice and seems to change up around 5500rpm if foot in it, sounds nice but it’s begging for some louder rear mufflers I think. Car runs amazingly cool as it’s got uprated new radiator and though it’s not a modern car by any standard it drives nice, still got a few more rattles to hunt down but it’s now at a stage where I am happy.
Next job once warmer is get it up in air but had a brief look underneath today, bird cage is solid, no rust and underside and arches are extremely clean, it’s been looked after.
Manage to wash it quickly this evening and have then spent around four hours polishing the paint work with several products and then a wax, it’s come up really well but it could do with a machine polish as the paint is full of swirls.
I will probably make a dedicated thread as it’s the kind of car that’s gonna have plenty of work and jobs done on it with it been 43 years old, but it’s such an event.
