Do you really need PS4S on an executive saloon?

There isn't generally much overlap in size, for the odd size both are available but generally your tyre size will dictate whether you get PS4 or PS4S.

I always buy the best tyres available for my wheel size, so yes I'd have fitted 4S had they been available for my front wheels.

Fair enough. PS4S are perfect for that occasional track use your 530d sees :p

I can overwhelm them with the throttle in a straight line on demand at any speed below about 120mph on anything other than a warm sunny dry day on the back of my executive saloon.

Tempted to look at Pirelli Corsa next time around but then I really would need to switch wheels in winter if I wanted to get anywhere reliably...

Fox has a 530d. Look, I’m all for the best rubber money can buy (I put PSS on my 2.0 TDI A6 6 years ago), but I was just expressing surprise that PS4S are worth it over the PS4 for a “normal” car.

It’s been a while since I watched the tyre reviews video on PS4 v PS4S v Cup2.

Fox has a 530d

It's not a BMW M5 but it does have 260bhp, 580nm, is capable of 155mph and can do 0-60 in 5.8 seconds. I'm hardly fitting Pilot Sport Cup 2 to a Fiesta 1.25 am I?

There is virtually zero cost difference between PS4 and PS4S where they are both available, so why wouldn't it be 'worth it'?

My Dad has a set of PS4S on his 630d - PS4 not available in his size. It isn't a Ferrari so what should he have fitted?

I don’t see the issue, PS4S is what will be going on my 440i when it’s due in a few months, as with Fox, why would you not just fit the best tyres you can?

FWIW, I can (and do) break traction in even mildly cool or damp conditions, so am more than happy to put on the best tyre for the conditions, likely even including winter tyres come November.

Not an executive saloon though so the tyre police dgaf.

At the risk of banging an old drum, I did discuss with my (none car enthusiast) friend at work he asked why does he need better tyres on a polo than just the cheapest as he's never needed anything better. I tried to explain its more of an just incase, but he was having none of it. I am getting some ps4s's on the back of my e92 on Saturday. I've got SS on there ATM, but somethings when wet, and quite often when setting off it does wheelspin.

I need new tyres on the back of my 730d, 275/35 R20, I can only find the PS4 in runflat, not PS4S, is that right?

P Zero's on at the moment and I'm not a big fan... can quite happily break traction.

Aye fair enough, I totally agree. I just forgot that the PS4S is the PSS replacement and the PS4 is the PS3 replacement, but significantly improved.

As Fox says, not available in all sizes. Is the F1A5 available in that size?

I've fitted MP4S all round on my F30, as Fox states, if they are available and there's negligible price difference why not?

I don't drive like a loon but the previous Conti SC5 RF tyres for me were too binary in their grip and caused me throw a few underpants and trousers away :D

Did you get your car sorted? I thought you had a major engine problem?
