What film did you watch last night?

Godzilla - King of Monsters - 5/10

It was alright. I needed something to veg out to and this fit the bill nicely haha!

Harry Potter and The Philosopher's Stone - 8/10

Watched it on TV as there was nothing else on. A great introduction to the films and characters.

Nobody. 8/10

Fantastic action flick and the best soundtrack since Babydriver.

Onto werewolves within now.
Watched this based on your comparison to the Babydriver soundtrack and wasn't disappointed. Bus scene and car chase stood out as particular highlights:D solid 8/10 for action.

The old dad popping out with the shotgun near the end had me laughing wasn't expecting it.

Bill and Ted 3 - 5/10 for nostalgia only not as brash or authentic as the original movies. I know the guys are a lot older but not sure it was worth the wait. They didn't screw it up or make it hideous like the ghostbusters reboot just lost former glory.

The Tomorrow War - 7/10 fun romp, not exactly original but did what it needed to efficiently. The emotional moments played better than I expected and you have to ignore the plot holes. Also made with no major balls ups or blatant virtue signalling. Well worth a watch but not a future classic.

I just couldn't get over the fact that....

apart from the time travel to come back and warn everyone what is happening in the future, the ENTIRE plot of going to the future to fight and develop a weapon is completely pointless as they could have just blown up the space ship they found in the original timeline, as they eventually did. Without even needing the toxin thing too.

There are a massive number of problems with the last 3rd of the movie but the premise was they hadn't found the space ship before events later in the movie due to the assumption that the aliens had arrived in 2048 employing some kind of stealth which had made it impossible to locate them before they'd built up the numbers to be unstoppable. It is ludicrous though that no one before that point had any thought they might have arrived earlier than assumed and investigated that angle.

The whole toxin thing at that point was completely pointless though - was just cheap and lazy writing so as to be able to do the largely meh ending fight.

Maybe stuff like COVID impacted it but the movie could have been way way better and a true stand out movie - the cast was solid, there was a lot of great ideas but the writing was cheap and lazy especially in the last 3rd of the movie.

I’d seen it years before, but I recorded “Basic Instinct” a few days ago and watched it last night, purely out of a prurient interest in watching Sharon Stone cross her legs while going commando.
For the life of me I couldn’t work out if the killer was Sharon Stone’s character, or her bi pal Roxy, or in the end maybe the police psychologist, Dr. Beth Garner.
I backed the film up, watched parts over again, even put the subtitles on in case I missed something, to no avail.
The only way that I discovered whodunnit was by visiting “thecinemaholic.com”, which gave a blow by blow, (no pun intended), of the film’s story and of its makers.

It was the doctor right.

Watched it the other day.

Not according to www.thecinemaholic.com, it was Catherine Tramell, Sharon Stone’s character.
I too thought that it was Dr. Beth Garner, played by Jeanne Tripplehorn, when Michael Douglas shot her, suspecting that she’d killed his partner Gus in the lift, then later a long coat and blonde wig, plus a SFPD jacket in her size was found on the stairs.

Tomorrow War 6/Yesterday

Not bad, not great, seems silly the humans had enough time to build a massive ocean fortress and invent time travel but they couldn't make bullets which kill the beasts quicker, even though the 50cal bullets seemed to kill them just fine

The tomorrow war 6/10
Probably being a little generous with my score here. Plot has more holes than a piece of Swiss cheese. A ridiculous film all round really, but it keeps you watching. Some decent action scenes. Worth a watch if you like this type of film.

Fair enough. It does explain why she has the ice pick in the end scene under the bed. Thanks.

Rewatched "A silent voice" the other night and although i know a lot of people here probably wont like japanese animated films i do strongly recommend watching it subbed. It's pretty deep, painful to watch to some degree and very well animated with amazing music. It's a sad film in one way but well worth watch.

Even if you dont like anime or animated films, please give this a chance, its on netflix and it so worth a watch and is a true "im just peeling onions" film. If anyone who doesnt watch anime watches this due to this recommendation please let me know your thoughts.

Quick Synopsis: Popular kid bullies deaf girl and becomes ostracized himself and story picks up later in their school life as they have gone their seperate ways

Yeah the guns weren't great. They would lose every time they were faced with superior numbers as they just couldn't kill them quick enough.

If they had Serious Sam style grenade launchers and mini guns it would probably score better than the 5/10 I'm giving it.

You’re welcome, sometimes we think that we’ve ‘got it’, but we haven’t quite ‘got it’.
I’ve lost count of the movies that my wife and I have watched, and as the credits appear, I’ve said, e.g., “If we saw X do that, why didn’t Y see it and do something?”, and she’s had to patiently explain it all to me in the manner of a kindergarten teacher, dealing with an educationally subnormal toddler.
I stress, this is NOT to say that you might be as slow on the uptake as me.

Tenet... Nolan's worst film by an absolute country mile. Am normally a big fan of his work.

I was hugely disappointed with this film. Plot was incomprehensible, not helped by the terrible audio. You just couldn't hear what anyone was saying. It had some good ideas and of course looked great, but overall a massive let down.

My niece absolutely loves this to bits, I'm not the greatest fan of anime, way too much blah blah feelings etc but this is not bad and a bit of an ' my hayfever is bad'

Black Widow. I enjoyed it and it just cements my belief that Florence Pugh is up there with the best actors of her generation.
