just saw a RTX 3080 TI for £875, specifically the EVGA FTW3
Do you not think that's very suspicious, an AIB 3080Ti for £875?

Did you not see Purgatory's reply to one of you're earlier "bargain" posts?

Be very careful of the scams on ******, that is where you saw that and has been going on a good while.. Its sold by a 3rd party seller not ****** and says they are based in germany/italy/romania etc and if you look them up they are stealing other companies details and if you check the sellers other items they sell they are all in demand items at silly low prices and all scams, no feeback....

Earlier in the thread you posted an auction site listing that was clearly a scam. Have you not heard of the phrase if something sounds too good to be true, it probably is?

It's not helpful posting dubious stuff like this....

@martind, Good to see you again my friend. How's it hanging? The new GPU holding up? Moved up 8 places in the Strix 3080 Non OC queue 97 - 89. Getting there slowly but surely ;)
Hi G-man-013! yes all good gpu is rocking! just been playing a little battlefield 4 , glad youre moving up a bit! stick with it, really pleased for you, its about time asus sent thru a pallet or two non oc's! what do they say, "absence makers the heart grow fonder!"

This is a real concern IMHO... I think the 4000 series will be a return to 2000 series MSRP.

No chance it was ever 2021. Considering the 3000 series was launched Sept last year, the subsequent series would not be planned for the following year.

I fully agree. Nvidia themselves stated around the 3060 launch that “Ampere Next” was scheduled for 2022 and “Ampere Next Next” for 2024. Seems real un-inventive til you realise the next card is called Ampere Next, and not Lovelace (the confirmed name of Ampere’s successor)?

2080 and 2080 Super were both on Turing architecture. The Ampere name-change was the next-gen jump. And I saw before that newest batch of 30 series laptop variants are curiously named 30xx Super - that little detail leaked at the start of June. While that specific range is laptop only, it seems way more likely to me, that the next RTX desktop variants will also be named 30xx Super, rather than jumping to 40 series so abruptly.

The 3080 Super could conceivably turn out to be based on the original (cancelled) 20GB 3080Ti SKU (based on 3090). Maybe we’ll see a 48GB 3090 or Titan Super to bring workstation-tier vram capacity to consumers.

If that up being the case, they would have a somewhat sensible reason to raise prices, and have a whole product range to test the water on price hikes before the 4000 cards, which would still be a fair ways off into the future.

Good to hear. How's BF4 going for you? Practice makes perfect my friend for 2042! Might get my card as a late xmas pressie at this rate lmao! Changing the subject, off to Silverstone this weekend for the F1 GP. Got tickets for Sundays race as a 60th birthday present. Was supposed to be last years race but because of the pandemic they held the tickets over for this years race. Going up with my youngest son so should be a blast. Come on Max!!!

Card arrived in yesterday, 2 days ahead of the scheduled delivery date. Just stuck it in the PC there. It's a tight squeeze even in my Coolermaster HAF 932, I had about 5mm to play with, I thought it wasn't going to fit at first. About the same size as the 2070 super, just a bit longer. The packaging is very plain, no stickers for the case or anything. At this price point they could throw in a few stickers.

Thanks to everyone at overclockers, fingers crossed for everyone still waiting.

They need to release the 50/50ti class cards first so I doubt we'll be seeing any supers especially since we already got Ti versions. They could possibly release a Titan but it would really need to be on TSMC 7nm to live up to the Titan branding of power and efficiency.

RTX4000 series should arrive towards the end of next year as I doubt they will want to wait to long and let RDNA3 steal the outright performance crown.

Reading this thread again I'm begining to wonder whether the orders placed on or around launch day are going to be fulfilled by the time the RTX40xx is launched, and I do wonder what nVidia's attitude is going to be if cards which haven't been supplied and never will be, will be one of magnanimity and an upgrade to the new models at no extra cost.

I don't think nvidia will say or do anything regarding AIB card supply.

just read nvidia might stop sending 3080 chips to AIB's for the month of July and maybe august, as there are so many second hand cards for sale, concern over a glut. this is beyond sick if its true, they should at least fill all back orders.

Why should Nvidia be bothered about the second hand market which they get nothing from, when they can sell every 3080 chip/GPU they make?

With all the talk of an impending 40xx series coming out soon, I really wonder just how any other industry could actually get away with something like this.

I mean, seriously…imagine a whole swathe of customers ordering a product and within six months, customers who haven’t even had that order fulfilled are told “your product is end of life and probably won’t be produced much any more.”

Even worse than that, a further three months later, those people that jumped ship and bought an even newer and more expensive version of the product being told that even THAT one is going to be surpassed.

I fully understand the need for continuous innovation and regular product releases etc, but SERIOUSLY…would consumers in any other industry really find this an acceptable practice? I’m not trying to get at OCUK here, it’s more at nVidia (and possibly AIB partners).

I just think that this whole process has turned me off buying components. The way they’ve handled this, with production delays (whether these were in their control or not), the significant mispricing of their MSRP, and the leap towards the 40xx series and the 30xx series isn’t even cold yet. It just smacks of “screw our customers. They’ll buy whatever we pump out.”

Things like this are why I’m turning into a socialist.

The problem for a company like Nvidia is they are obviously working to a long term schedule and just because one part of the company is having problems doesn't mean that development stops in other areas. I don't see how they can even make the decision to delay the sale of the next generation because they've probably made promises to other companies and shareholders.
It is a bit of a mess. They will probably just try to get through this period and hope for the best. They could maybe win back some good will by having a discount voucher for people that bought their current generation. I don't think they will though, they have market dominance and don't have to pander to anyone.

I just think that this whole process has turned me off buying components.
Until you want to buy new components. It's a hard industry to boycott because the bottom line is you kind of need their stuff.
