Supermarket home delivery services

Well my my mum has it delivered as she's old and can't carry the shopping anymore and it'd have to be a taxi or a bus as partner doesn't drive anymore, its not free though I would do the same it weren't for the cost its quite a hassle I do it once a week but I'm seriously thinking about delivery.

Local Co-op store isn't even online you push a trolley around the store until you're done filling it and pay and it gets put aside until the delivery guy comes and collects and delivers it to you, apart from people who don't have cars I don't see the point.

We use deliveroo for our local co-op probably once every few days.

I've even been in the position of what the OP is complaining about. Order a few cans, a bottle of wine and some rolling papers. Sure, I could get to there and back within 20 minutes but they also deliver for 99p within 15-20 minutes and I don't have to leave the house.

We do our big shop online and if we need small bits sometimes we'll go to the shop or sometimes we'll order it on deliveroo

Yeah, i've seen our local Waitrose have moved onto Deliveroo recently, i'm looking forward to those lazy days of ordering a few bottles of wine!

Yeah it's ace. On those nice evenings when you fancy a bottle of wine at the last moment. Some Wine and nibbles and you're over the minimum order.

At 99p delivery it's a no brainer!

I used to prefer in person shopping to ordering my groceries delivered, but in the last year, time has become more important to me, and of course, one of my local supermarkets closes at the end of this week and the other has decided to become an 'express' store along with the associated price hikes.. Suffice to say, I think I'll stick with ordering my weekly shop in future.

We must be the exception, but still do the food shops in person. Initially our rationale was to not take delivery slots from people who really needed them. Missus prefers to be able to select stuff herself and also check the sell/use by dates match what we need when doing the weekly shop. For odds and ends the local Tesco express is a convenient distance when doing my daily healthy walk.

I was the same when slots were sparse, but now it's back to normal and amazon does same day delivery for free if you have prime (via morrisons) its just far too convient.

You can call a Co-Op for delivery? I thought Co-Op only did grocery deliveries via Deliveroo.

Looking at their website apparently, you can and the prices are cheaper than with deliveroo - presumably closer to in-store process (perhaps minus any special offers). Main difference seems to be that deliveroo will get stuff to you within 30 mins whereas going directly with Co-op delivery is within 2 hours.

I still prefer going to the shop myself...local Morrisons is 2 mins in the car...takes less time for me to go to the shop rather than wait around for the delivery arriving...even with a 1hr delivery window

usually get Amazon stuff delivered to lockers/counters too so you can collect it whenever

Lol @ getting a pack of fags delivered via home delivery.

When I was driving a taxi, I’d occasionally get a trip offer on the screen that would say, “On account, delivery from S.W.3 to S.W.11, L.O. £40”
The L.O. meant lay out, it translated to someone in Battersea had ordered some food from a restaurant in Chelsea, I was to pick it up, pay for it and deliver it to Battersea.
After delivery, I’d add the £40 to the metered fare and submit the total for payment in that month’s computer print out.
Account work attracted a 12.5% automatic gratuity, so in addition to the fare plus 12.5%, I’d get the £40 plus 12.5% tip too.
Sometimes I’d be offered a similar thing, but a cash job, someone wanted a pack of Bensons and a bottle of gin.
With all cash jobs from the onboard terminal you were allowed to arrive at pick up with a max of £3.60 on the meter, the customer was ALWAYS advised of this when phoning the circuit.
So I’d have £3.60 on the clock when I pulled up at a convenience store to buy the fags and booze, then when I delivered the stuff, I’d say, e.g. that’s £X for the fags and gin, plus £X for the fare.
Seemed a lot to pay for a smoke and a drink to me, but the customer’s always right.

We only get our proper shopping online now. My wife hates going to the supermarket. I quite enjoy it...I put my headphones on and just wander round, but I don't think she likes me actually choosing the stuff so she'd rather one of us ordered via an app. I'm perfectly happy with that. Tesco is delivering tomorrow actually :)

ITT learnt about COOP delivery. Looks great! Big fan of the COOP. I bank with them too.

Just realised Waitrose on Deliveroo is free delivery over £15 which seems decent. Delivery fees are one of those things i really resent paying, even if it means going hugely out of my way to collect.

Hopefully they have the full range of cheese and wine :D

Haha we were at my sisters the other day when her new boyfriend arrived.

Had spent about 2 hours chatting and i made some comment about Waitrose and he said the same thing "i bet that's your Lexus outside isn't it, you stole my parking space"

Do your family even recognise you?

I get grief from my Mum/Brother for becoming a "paper pusher" quite often.

Fortunately i'm from a family of paper pushers (Mum taught computing and my dads a reliability engineer)

Although saying that, my dad raves about a wine from Lidl at less than a Euro!

I don't understand this thread? Is it specifically coop? Or a moan about people who get stuff delivered?

Going into the supermarket to get shopping yourself?
Pass on that. Takes ages! Not worth it.

It's like 3 pounds to get tesco delivered. That's worth it even for the petrol cost!

I don't use lidl as they don't do Home delivery.

Ooo errr and I bet you drive a Lexus

:p

I remember the time my local was waitrose.
I almost invested in a landy, gillet, and Gucci belt.
The shame of pulling up in a Peugeot was too much. So usually took the (when I had it) s2000.

It really was a class above the lidl nearby

To be fair. Staff were lovely
