*** The Official Battlefield 2042 thread***

Seems to be a thing with game developers these days, ironically in chasing making money, dumbing games down so that players who know how to do things well have to essentially play with one arm tied behind their backs so as to not scare off the new/casual players - only in the long term it just results in a slow but steady decline - though I guess they see that as a way to then get people to buy a new game again down the line :s but again in the longer run it is just running franchises into the ground.

I seem to spend more time these days revisiting older games.

Big difference between respawning and a mechanic for vehicles becoming more or less obsolete as dice seemingly want to dumb the game down as much as they can. If anything it has the potential to make certain vehicles even more dominant as they no longer need to rely on engineers to repair them, they just run and hide for a few moments then back to 100%.

I was picking up more on your use of "magic" as a way of describing it and pointing out that if we are talking magic, coming back alive or even getting up after a direct hit from a tank is equally magical :D

I agree it will make good vehicle users much more effective versus crappy teamwork squads, obviously well organised squads will still be able to deal with it but of course unless you are squaded with friends you're unlikely to be in a well organised teamwork squad, so yeah for most squads it will make vehicles tougher to deal with.

I certainly know what you mean about dumbing games down, been happening for a number of years now. Having said that though, the best games I have played in 2021 have been Valheim, Pathfinder 2 (my 2021 game of the year) and Riftbreaker, which are all releases from the last 12 months, so there are still great titles being released.

With Pathfinder 2 being whatever the opposite of dumbing down is...braining up?... you almost need a degree to fathom some of the elements of Pathfinder 2 :D

Was going to say before your edit they aren't games from genres which tend to be forgiving on inexperienced players in the first place. Not the kind of games I play much other than dipping in now and again if I've got bored of stuff more aligned to my interests.

Oh yes, absolutely. Its been a difficult time for folks depending upon what genre they are interested in, I feel for the people whose main genre choice is point and click adventures for instance, they barely ever get any great titles. Same really for RTS fans, they get scant high quality releases too. Battle Royale fans on the other hand have bucket load after bucket load of choice.

The dev's always release some footage like this crazy wall hack thing around now before release, remember the BF1 suit of armour pickup or the flame thrower, people on forums lost their **** over that.

Some of those perks are very COD.

DICE combatting hackers by including the hacks in their specialists, interesting concept...

It seems to be trying to do something new for the sake of it - the kind of system, maybe with a few tweaks, in BF3/4 is what people want who are Battlefield players.
Absolutely bang on.
'and we'll get away with some spaffy gimmicks by setting it in the ever such a little bit in the future' Just to appeal to the COD, Warzone and even Fortnite fans.

During the Open Beta we heard some feedback that Specialists were limiting team work, and we wanted to address this concern head-on.

Addressing it head on == there is more and they'll be great, honest! One of them even has a wallhack!

"made changes to the UI so that when you’re inside of 10m(33ft), an icon is now present above the heads of enemy soldiers, provided they wouldn’t be otherwise occluded by any terrain, or map objects."

Why :(

It will be on Gamepass after a month if you can be bothered to wait. In fact a 10 hour trial will be available on launch if you have Gamepass so well worth using that first before buying.

How will it possibly be on gamepass? EA Play Pro it will be on but not the standard which is what gamepass uses.

It's a shame dice seem to be clueless now. Here's a bright idea...dont make soldiers for each team look identical!

Maybe read the quote you quoted....10 hour trial on gamepass

Maybe read it yourself, "It WILL be on gamepass after a month. INFACT a 10 hour trial will be available"

I know there will be a trial but I played enough of the beta to make up my mind, still question how it will be on gamepass after a month... Trial will come on release.

Well if its anything like BFV and let's be honest it's shaping up to be like that so far, dice making stupid decisions and not listening to fans etc then it will be on gamepass very soon

For all it's flaws I put in over 500 hours on BFV hah. When it comes to BF games I am a bit of a sucker and will sink in time.
