The cost doesn't surprise me in the slightest. In fact to purchase a car like this and no really know that these are the type of bills you could pay is more worrying

As an ex GTR owner, I’m sure you were more than aware of the running costs.
I would hope so. But then that lends the question, why make a big song and dance about it in here? Omg, everyone, guess how much a service is. If you already knew, as you eluded to, why are you expecting us to guess? Is it to prove something?

If you check my GTR thread, and Gallardo thread you'll see I posted up the full running and maintenance costs there also, which, a lot of people either find interesting or helpful to know if they want to make that step from a real world owner, rather than the usual tripe you read online of "if you cant buy two you cant afford one" type posters.

Ooo fellow 360 owner *waves* not bad price on the servicing, mine is due soon but just oil / filter in new year, I think it's reasonable pricing on the 360 for what they are.

Think of it as "cheap" the cars worth say 200k which is let's say 8-10 times the cost of the average car, but the bills probably aren't that much higher.

We all know what it’s like when a dealer overcharges for relatively simple parts and labour, but I’m a little surprised at lambo and Ferrari dealers taking the biscuit. Their customers have already paid the high price of entry into ownership, why **** them off with ridiculous service charges?
Just because owners can afford these prices, doesn’t mean they are necessarily happy paying them. I assume at least some of them will be self made and not gentry, which means they didn’t make their money by throwing it away needlessly.

When I was supercar shopping I test drove all the various marques and in the end the short list was 458 Italia, Performante or a GT3 RS. The latter was ruled out because it was a little dull to drive on the road, though it won my heart on the looks front and it was the safest bet depreciation wise which has held true as they were 150k three years ago and are still 150k today. The Performante was outrageous fast, it was literally in another dimension on performance scales, looked insane particular in purple as did the GT3, but again to get to the point of OH this is fun on the road you were well above 100mph, so very anti social and very license losing. The car was also 210k so I feared it could have been hit hard, they did dip to around 150-160 but are now back to around 190k. The 458 blew me away for how much fun factor and how it sizzled as to speak at normal speeds, it was just as capable on road but there was never the need to drive that fast, plus it felt very special. So at this point the 458 was the one and I started to test drive more before finding mine.
Then the servicing was a major bonus too, as I have never paid for a service on my 458 in the last three years, all have been free, warranty extension is also half the price of other marques and Ferrari dealership seem very willing to work with customers too, my next service will be paid for and cost around £950 for a regular and around £1200 for a major, thankfully spark plugs are 60k miles but I actually had Ferrari do these for me in first year of ownership and the dealership charged me £210 to fit, which I thought was very fair as it was 2-3hr work for them. The downside with Ferrari is the extended warranty is pretty poor, it only covers drivetrain essentially, so stuff like dampers, corrosion are not covered, it basically covers engine, gearbox, some electronics and some suspension items, so something to be aware off because just like the other marques it is easily possible to get a 10-20k come service time if items are deemed to be worn out.
Ferrari are very good at keeping customers in the brand, I have even contemplated selling the 458 and buying an 812 Superfast simply because it will have around 5 year servicing left on it which would save me around £10,000 in maintenance on the 458 in that time, however the cost to change would probably be 60-100k so even man maths can't find a solution to that one and as much as I love the 812, I like my 458 more and its pretty much stopped losing money and they are very reliable, though I do feel 812's are currently maybe on the cheap side been the last V12 NA and will no doubt not get much cheaper now. Of course an F12 is an 812 with just much spikier handling and cost a fair chunk less but of course are also out of the service pack 7 years now most of them.
For me 458 just ticked all the boxes, one of the most enjoyable supercars to actually drive on the road, I've done around 13,000 miles in mine now, every single mile GRIN INDUCING, it is also damn good on track too, not quite GT3 or Perf good lap time wise but easily as much fun as Ferrari's traction and E-diff setup is very user friendly plus the chassis just feels like an M3 to slide around. Plus Ferrari has the bonus of the history, how they feel to drive and very reasonable servicing/maintenance cost and generally a very good dealer network.
