30xx Series Founders Edition

My 3080TiFE was running its RAM at 104C just gaming (from HWInfo Assuming it is accurate) and the core was at its thermal limit of ~84C with 90 odd hotspot, they are toasty mofos, I slapped it on water, nothing to do with mining those temps are something I was not to comfortable with, sure it might be designed for it and within tolerance but it starts to pull back clocks etc to keep in that thermal budget rather than ramp up fans etc, yes I could do custom fan profiles etc but temps would still be high.

Took me all year to get a card at a normal price, I wasn't even going to get a 3080Ti but it became clear that 3080s were never going to see the light of day and AIB cards were the same price as a Ti FE so, each time I'd get a notification I'd miss out, I almost had one a few months ago but by the time the 2FA had sorted itself of the payment I lost the basket......

If they ship to the EU it is one lot of paperwork, one lot of imprt charges, one lot of everything.
If they ship to the UK (I imagine they arrive in the EU first) it is even more paperwork for them to complete. So Brexit will have an impact.

yes but we have been getting drops all throughout brexit yes maybe slight delay, but its not like AMD where they dont do any UK drops

Not true, there are also images of people that had cards that were thermal throttling and then when they stripped the cards down they found misplaced thermal pads, pads with the plastic protective sheets on and do forth..
If the card is hitting 110°C on the memory gaming, then it needs to go back for RMA.

I don't think it's lucky to buy a 1 year old GPU 42% above an already high MSRP .

AIBS are usually upto £200 above the reference card so yeah in these times its quite normal and lucky. You have to let go of the old pricing it will never go back no matter what you do. Granted its a low end AIB so overpriced but when the flip side is not getting a card yep its lucky from where I stand.

A lot of other people thought so as it wasnt in stock long and sold out quickly due to being a good price. Thats rare in these days.

There is literally a full topic of people replacing thermal pads on the FE cards, the only reason you need to do that is for mining.

Professional miners dont buy FE cards as they cant buy them in bulk legally. The previous post incorrectly stated Nvidia sold £175 million worth of cards to miners.

That`ll be a refund then of price paid, as many many have said on here already, or try your luck as on reddit many many users are saying that *insert AIB* are taking months to return cards. The vendor will return your money citing no available stock for an RMA replacement.

This is complete and utter bunkum! and displays a complete ignorance on how things work on the Continent.

..but its just soooooo much easier to blame the great bogeyman of our times, Brexit for everything these days, rather than thinking about the way things are right now...

Mine not been anywhere near that temp while having, iirc it was around 70°c.
What temps are you getting now you have the waterblock fitted? I just stripped mine down last night and fitted the waterblock, going to get it into the system tonight after flushing the block.

Are there any decent blocks for the FE 3080 that someone here has used?

The EK blocks are stunning imo, brilliant build quality and performance. Not used one personally but 2 friends have them for FE card and no issue with cooling at all . Ive got one on my Strix and performance is stunning :)

Yeah the EK name has come up before, I'm torn between an NR200P MAX or the bare case and then stick a custom loop in there..
I am however unsure about the EK configurations suggestion that I put the rad in the bottom of the case...

Obviously peoples temps are all down to their enviroment, I am in a fairly warm room, not of lot of air flow about

This was the temps from playing control with all the bells and whistles on @ 4k leaving fans speeds at default settings. Could be mine was poorly built as the cooler just fell off once unscewed where as normally more effort is required to remove a cooler from a card.

After fitting the water block on a 20 loop timespy stress test it went down to the following with a +190 and +1000 OC

It should be noted the 5950 is in the loop at this point too and also I did not realize rads were clogged despite dust filters and my water temp got up to 55C at some point  as I run low fans speeds for noise reasons 1k max (not hit 55C during this test BTW, just observed whilst playing) I have since cleaned it all up and not seen higher than 42C temps on water so perhaps the numbers would be lower if I tested again, this was with the ~130quid Alphacool block, not the fancy pants EK one.

I will reset HWInfo and note some updated numbers on my next play session.

Cheers

Most people are replacing FE pads. AIBs are better but I've not seen anyone with issues while gaming, only mining.
The not to be named FE retailer will replace a card if RMAd

The NR200 isn’t the best case for a full custom water cooling loop, certainty not for someone who hasn’t done it before. The barrow all in one CPU block, pump and res is pretty much a requirement. Yes it can be done, but it’s very tight and far from ideal.

I’d suggest the O-11 dynamic mini, it’s not as small but much more forgiving and a similar price. There is a reason why everyone has it.

For that price you could have easily got a 3070 Ti FE for almost the same price. You don't have to be lucky, sign up to telegram alerts and set up an app like alertify as an alarm to virtually guarantee you don't miss the drop, when I got mine the 3070 Ti was in stock for at least 15 minutes so you don't even need to be fast.
