30xx Series Founders Edition

Sorry guys :) What people do with their card is their business, was a tongue in cheek comment as I noticed seem to be a lot of miner related posts lately, more than usual including the moderated one's. :)

The actual pattern seems to just be since the ti model came out the numbers are down.

For that price you could have easily got a 3070 Ti FE for almost the same price. You don't have to be lucky, sign up to telegram alerts and set up an app like alertify as an alarm to virtually guarantee you don't miss the drop, when I got mine the 3070 Ti was in stock for at least 15 minutes so you don't even need to be fast.

Its not easy and you do have to be lucky. After purchasing a 3060ti FE, and 3080 FE I know what its like dont need to tell me. 15 minutes is not long either and if you are not ready for those 15 minutes then tough. Plus I didnt want an FE or a 3070ti.

The 3060ti was purchased as I needed a card at that time, the 3070ti FE wasnt available.

If the card is hitting 110°C on the memory gaming, then it needs to go back for RMA.

My 3080 regularly exceeds 100C and functions perfectly. Just because we don't like the look of something it doesn't mean it's a basis for RMA - the likelihood is that the card would just be returned to you stating that it's working as intended.

This is why I have no intention of changing pads because that would just risk a rejected RMA in future.

I don't agree, luck simply doesn't come into it with a 15 minute window, it's a failure to prepare. The 3080 Ti is usually available for hours too.

So you are saying knowing when the 15 minute window is going to occur, and being sat in front of a computer ready to buy is not luck ? Maybe you can share your fortune telling secrets. Not everyone is strapped to a computer ready to buy for 10-12 hrs a day.

You also missed my point on the day I needed a GPU the 3070ti FE wasnt available so your example of what to purchase is no good. Just respect I have a different opinion and leave it at that.

Professional miners dont buy FE cards as they cant buy them in bulk legally. The previous post incorrectly stated Nvidia sold £175 million worth of cards to miners.
£175 mil of dies and GDDR6X most likely and the miners build themselves since these aren't going to a any small time bedroom set up.

Straw-man argument, I didn't say you needed to be sat in front of a computer all day, I ordered mine through my phone as I'm sure many other people did. Also the vast majority of drops occur in the morning Mon-Fri so you don't necessarily need to be on alert 12 hours a day.

Not liking the look of things because the temps are 100°C and the temperatures actually hitting 110°C which is the thermal limit of the memory (supposedly) are two different things.

So you don't have an Internet capable mobile?

Some people are not allowed to use their phones when working.

There is this thing called work and if you are actually working during this 15 minute window which @DeliciousStorage seems to know exactly when it is then you our out of luck. You dont need to preach to me I've already bought 2 FE's and they were both down to me being in the right place at the right time. This was both 2020.

Plus I shall say again just for people who cant read properly I needed a GPU on a specific day and there was no FE drop on that day. So I was lucky IMHO to get the 3060ti AIB. Not saying anymore on the matter. Move on.

Majority of drops have been around 10am
Some have been late at night
Some have been Saturday

ALL have been on Telegram, if you are not using the Part Alert on Telegram, you only have yourself to blame for not knowing when they are available

I have all these things and have done all these things I still missed out loads, there is an element of luck to it, as mentioned I had one in my basket at one point and lost it due to payment auth.
I know nationwide are a pain in the backside for this, and have stopped the transaction even when I have authorised it

All the info regarding operating windows and limits are provided by the manufacturer, you don't have to guess.

https://www.micron.com/products/ultra-bandwidth-solutions/gddr6x/part-catalog

The operating limits are clearly defined, I'm not contesting that. What I'm saying is that my card reports 100+ and functions perfectly fine. I pay no attention to it because not only does it function fine, I can't even be sure that it's even hitting that temperature because I'm reliant on 3rd party software to tell me.

I wouldn't consider thermal pads or RMA unless I was experiencing actual performance issues.

You would not really notice performance issues with the memory throttling anyway. You would only know using software

Obviously peoples temps are all down to their enviroment, I am in a fairly warm room, not of lot of air flow about

This was the temps from playing control with all the bells and whistles on @ 4k leaving fans speeds at default settings. Could be mine was poorly built as the cooler just fell off once unscewed where as normally more effort is required to remove a cooler from a card.

After fitting the water block on a 20 loop timespy stress test it went down to the following with a +190 and +1000 OC

Screenshot-20211118-141655-Samsung-Internet.jpg

It should be noted the 5950 is in the loop at this point too and also I did not realize rads were clogged despite dust filters and my water temp got up to 55C at some point  as I run low fans speeds for noise reasons 1k max (not hit 55C during this test BTW, just observed whilst playing) I have since cleaned it all up and not seen higher than 42C temps on water so perhaps the numbers would be lower if I tested again, this was with the ~130quid Alphacool block, not the fancy pants EK one.

I will reset HWInfo and note some updated numbers on my next play session.

Cheers
Thanks for that, my room is also warm with little air flow so I'll see what I'm getting tomorrow in BF 2042, got it all fitted again and just testing my loop now.
