I’m watching Michael Palin’s round the world in 80 days, and it really is amazing how far we’ve come in a short period of time. You’ve had a parcel picked up, transported to a different country and delivered in 26 hours. It’s quite staggering.

Wait until someone tells me about the internet.

I'm surprised there is so much hate on UPS. I always saw them as the most bullet proof/sexiest delivery crew. I did live by their depo in central London for a while, and the fleet of pristine purpose built trucks convoying in the morning may have been where the attachment came from :p

for me it was seeing the absolute horror show that was their implementation of airsoft stuff from the eu post brexit, went from being quick and reliable to parcels held for months, parcels getting lost etc.

some of the popular stores just stopped shipping to the uk entirely over it.

They were okay but post Brexit was an absolute poop show.

Bought something that cost £66 from Italy, under the £135 limit.

Then UPS wanted my TAX CODE?

Then I gave them a random number as they do not need that.

Then every single day I was getting the following update for about 2 weeks, just sat there in Italy, scan and put back, scan and put back.

When it arrived a month later it had an encounter with someone with a sword.

My business gets a lot of shipments from our main supplier based in the Netherlands and UPS have been absolutely shocking over the past 3/4 months.

Had multiple, multi consignment orders just sat at their depot in Stansted for weeks on end with no updates at all and no reason for the delay, finally arrived 5 weeks later out of the blue, and when it did arrive it looks as if it had been run through a tumble dryer for those 5 weeks, nearly everything was destroyed.

FedEx are a tiny bit better but the way they deal with import duties and VAT is a shambles and getting an invoice out of them is like getting blood from a stone.

TNT only tend to deliver larger items to us, but we drop ship a certain SKU straight from the importer and their tracking numbers either relate to some random consignment in Thailand or just don't work at all.

We rarely use DPD, but when we do it's flawless, and whenever we receive something via DPD (Or me personally) they're always bang on time within a 1 hour window with great tracking.

So, hoping DPD come through with the goods to back up my pointless post :p

failed delivery probably means it wasn't on the van or he ran out of time :p

not all of those couriers exist in switzerland though so does it still count if swiss post does the actual hand over

The Kentish Town one? I'm round the corner and 100% went through a period of wanting to be a UPS driver when I was a kid because of the convoys! :D

I would have expected FedEx for a long distance international by air (one of the few who have their own cargo fleet of airplanes and who don't rely on civilian cargo space which is a bit sparse with covid).

For this, I would have fully expected TNT to screw up the collection because we have had no end of that issue with them, despite being part of FedEx now who are very reliable on collections. I rate FedEx and ups about the same for most stuff, and UPS are usually cheaper, albeit we've found FedEx to be a bit faster over all for priority shipping.

You can actually feel everyone getting serious about it now .

If TNT can clear customs early enough it may pip UPS to the post. All depends on how early UPS can get the parcel back out tomorrow.
It will almost certainly have been pre cleared last night, before it was even in the air would not surprise me.
