Lenovo Legion 5 Pro

Anyone else got the Realtek wifi card? Tried to play some Warzone and that thing is utterly junk. Ping spikes to 200-300ms randomly even when just pinging a website. Ordered an Intel AX200 to replace it.
 
Thankfully, mine came with the AX200. But if I want speed I use a Plugable 2.5Gb/s Ethernet to USB adapter. Works well with the Ideapad too.
 
Mine has Realtek WiFi not had any issues with download speeds or connection speed. I don’t really play online games so no idea how it performs there My Son uses it for a few and has not complained but not call of duty.

If anyone else has this issue the fix is just to turn off location services.
 
Finally found some time to play with an undervolt, makes a big difference. Running consistently higher speeds on my 3060 (>2000mhz compared to 1950 stock) and added 10% memory speed. All using a good 10-15W lower than stock.
 
I'm considering picking one of these up now but its a minefield as to what to get. Looking at spending 1500ish for one. Don't really want 1080p screen so i imagine QHD, since the 4k ones use the same GPU?
Are these laptops in any way portable? I was looking at the series 7 slim but wasn't sure if that would struggle with cooling?
 
The gen7 legion 5 pro has been released today.

it's just the intel versions, and starts at £1869.99!

But i had to order one as i want to get the latest laptop i can get so it will last me the next 5 to 8 years hopefully.

Ouch! Can get a Legion 7 5800/RTX 3080 for around that.

That’s what I’d buy with that budget
 
I just got the Legion 7 5800H, RTX 3060 and it’s great. One word of advice when buying and Ryzen CPU laptop is to check the RAM when you get your laptop as the type of RAM have a high impact on performance and it’s a litter what type of RAM the manufacturer puts inside. My Legion 7 bought at Overclockers last week came with 16Bg of very cheep and badly constructed single rank, x16 RAM and as a result my 5800H was running slower then a 4800H and after replacing the stock RAM with Kingston Fury Impact which was dual rank and x8 design CPU performance increase by 20% and in 3DMark my CPU score went from 8300 to over 10200 just by replacing the RAM

Indeed, the pricing on the 12th gen based laptops is why I ended up with the Legion 7 with 3080. Consider I am either gaming at 1440p (1600p) or 1440p Ultrawide the slightly lower CPU performance overall is not going to hamper anything. It's also the reason I didn't order a 3080Ti based laptop. The extra performance (~10%) certainly doesn't justify the extra cost, nearly €4,000 for the XMG Neo 15 with the Oasis addon.... yeah, no.

Also RAM wise mine had 1Rx16 sticks albeit the timings were slightly better than what I have seen elsewhere. Replaced with the Impact Fury's I already bought for the Erazer and performance did go up a bit. :)

Try the GPU undervolt too. Plenty of extra performance from that too.
 
I'm wondering if the standard Legion 5 gen 7 is also going to be released at a ridiculous price too.

I think it might be worth looking around for a gen 6 instead if the price of the gen 7 Pro model is anything to go by. I briefly had a go with a standard Legion 5 with a 5800H and 3070 with the 1080p 165Hz screen and it was great, so something like that would be good. Cheapest I've seen it at the moment though is £1299. I'm wondering what the equivalent gen 7 of that spec will launch at.
 
The Gen 6 are great and you can always wait for something better or spend more to buy something newer or higher spec. Personally I just got the Legion 7 5800H and it’s fantastic both as an office and gaming machine don’t regret getting it.
