Ukraine Invasion - Please do not post videos showing attacks/similar

Presumably Ukraine can use its air force and drones to bomb destroy Russian artillery and siege equipment that is inside Ukraine. So to flatten the city they will have be firing from Belarus and other positions.

Maybe but there's a heck of a lot of Russian kit that they could roll in yet and quite a limited number of Air Force Jets (even with the kit that the EU is supplying)

So your solution is to give Russia everything that they have been asking for? The reason they invaded is that the west and Ukraine refused to implement Minsk agreement which would achieve everything you listed.

Agreed - though Ukraine would better ceding Crimea and the 2 break away areas - clean break from Russia's BS - and do whatever it takes to gain entry into the EU.

Perhaps NATO membership will not be needed - if for example EU troops were deployed as peacekeepers/tripwire.

Yeah, plus I get the feeling the Russians were taken by surprise that the Ukraine airforce was still up? Don’t think it factored into their initial plans, hence the defeats outside Kyiv at airfields they tried to take.
They won’t make that mistake again so I suspect bombing runs might be incredibly risky now

People make light of the fact he used to be an actor/comedian but that actually came in useful apparently in the earlier meetings with Western leaders, previously UK and US were backing him hard but when he addressed European leaders directly and made it clear that he's fighting here for Western/European values, that that is what is at stake here in Ukraine then they were persuaded and the countries going in with silliness re: exemptions before or blocking other sanctions switched to being supportive.

Soft skills not just important in business but even among world leaders that perhaps swayed things and now not just the US, UK and a few EU nations are behind him but all EU nations seem to be on board:

The most impressive aspect about his acting credentials on show here is how, as the leader of a former USSR country, desperate to maintain its freedom, and desperate for its borders to be made stronger, he's appealing to join that freedom-destroying, border-eroding EUSSR.

;)

Not necessarily, what state is it in for a start? How will they supply and support it?

People conflate numbers on paper with what they actually have available, they'd not be reaching out to Belarus for assistance if there were legitimately 800k+ additional equipment Russian troops ready for combat that they could send.

Back in 2014 Ukraine had like 125k troops on paper, their Defence minister was quoted as saying that realistically they had about 5000 they could actually send into combat, lots of their equipment/vehicles were in a bad state/not serviceable. The Ukrainian rebels tried using captured Ukrainian weapons, missiles etc.. often to find them failing to fire.

Look at the state of the equipment Russia has decided is serviceable enough to be sent into Ukraine, some of it is appalling. Russian troops have, in general, little combat experience. Ukraine has a bunch of reserves/veterans who have, at some point, served on the front line in the past 8 years.

Not quite the dunk you think it is tbh... but you are one for simplistic reasoing!

Russia have just killed loads of civilians in Kharkiv, horrible videos on twitter with dead bodies everywhere

That might be those rocket attacks filmed earlier, very sad, that's unfortunately what Kyiv is likely to face too.

Using grid square denial weapons like MLRS (or Grad or whatever the Russian name is) in a civilian area seems like it's getting close to war crime territory.

They will try but Russia still has air superiority so it will be tough for them. it didn't take Russia long to destroy what they originaly had,

Apparently the nuclear special alert is Liz Truss’ fault

She does appear to be putting on a bit of an aggressive front imo. Trying to be another Iron Lady.

She's getting ready for a leadership contest once this settles down

Russia blames Liz Truss for nuclear 'special alert'

Earlier, UK Defence Secretary Ben Wallace downplayed the nuclear "special alert" announced by Vladimir Putin, suggesting that the Russian president wanted to distract people from his forces' slower-than-expected progress in the invasion.

Wallace told the BBC: "We will not do anything to escalate in that area, we will not do anything to feed any miscalculation - we take it very, very seriously. But at the moment this is a battle of rhetoric that President Putin is deploying."

Now, the Kremlin has suggested comments from Foreign Secretary Liz Truss were the reason that Russia put its nuclear forces on heightened alert, according to the Russian news agency Interfax.

"There had been statements by various representatives at various levels about possible conflict situations and even collisions and clashes between Nato and the Russian Federation," said Dmitry Peskov, spokesman for Vladimir Putin.

"We consider such statements absolutely unacceptable. I will not name the authors of these statements, although it was the British foreign secretary."

It's not clear which comments by Truss the Russian government objects to, although on Sunday she said she said she would support individuals from the UK joining an international force to fight for Ukraine.

"I will not name the authors of these statements, although it was the British foreign secretary." Great job on not naming them
