Anybody thinking Russia was weak because it couldn't take Kyiv in 5 or so days, might sadly get proven wrong soon. Media blackout seems likely, which will put the world into a guessing frenzy and going by the retorts of 'omg nukes' on here, I fear that most will start thinking the worst - and typical west media will spin up a frenzy with little to no facts to back anything.
Russia is weak, it’s only its nuclear arsenal which makes it appear strong, in conventional warfare NATO without the USA would be more than a match for them, the USA alone would wipe the floor with them

But a conventional warfare wouldn't happen, so lets be realistic.

You guys who want to go help Ukraine directly keep asking what the red line is. Its attacking a nato country. That goal post hasn't moved.

I wonder whether if we decide not to get involved, and we sit and watch Ukraine eventually get razed, thousands of civilians killed, etc, etc - what does that say about the west, what does it say about us?

It's one thing to tremble at the thought of Russias nuclear arsenal, but I think we need to get real - it could end up being a very horrible mistake to just sit behind sanctions and watch this unfold and not do anything.
It’s says this is just what we do. We are very selective about the price of human life.

Britain, the US and France may be complicit in war crimes in Yemen by arming and providing support to a Saudi-led coalition that starves civilians as a war tactic, a United Nations report has said.

A UN panel of experts has for the first time compiled a list of 160 military officers and politicians who could face war crimes charges, including from Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, the Houthi rebel movement and Yemeni government military forces. A secret list of those most likely to be complicit has been sent to the UN.

The UN report will very likely be used as further evidence for those demanding that the British government end arms sales to Saudi for use in Yemen.

I think the same can be levelled at most countries at some point in their history, the UK used cluster bombs in the Falklands for example (though they werent "banned" at that time of course) , not sure that any major country has an entirely clean history. The hope is that as time goes by countries evolve and progress.

Conventional warfare with Russia will not happen

They would be guaranteed a loss.

It will, because what stands to happen is if Russia is emboldened they will say give us X or else and we will be forced to fight them.

It might not happen now, it might not happen in 10 years but it will happen and china will be right with them.

If there's one thing I'm fairly sure of is that there will not be a conventional war between nato and Russia.

Should be hide behind a red line he'll never ever cross, as an excuse not to do more?

Unfortunately the consequence of doing more are worse than what's going on right now.

Hope you are right and the alternative doesn't play out.

Exactly, you can't keep pointing back at mistakes or bad stuff which happened, as the sole excuse to not help prevent the slaughter of thousands, especially in the context of what's happening here. It's a modern, peaceful democracy - not some far away hellhole that's doomed regardless.
