It’s quite something that Putin is offering up a list of demands for a peace deal, given their invasion plans seem to have stalled. Why should the Ukrainians give in? I realise it will stop the suffering, but why give in to Putin.

As much as I would want to save as many lives as possible, part of me wouldn’t want to give in to him.

All it would achieve is another war further down the line. Didn’t Ukraine give up their nukes in agreement with Russia etc to not be attacked again? And look where we are. You can’t trust Russian government.

Not only that but they appear to be winning with the Russians taking losses that are unsustainable the longer this goes on.

russians have lost more tanks than most countries have. I know they are touted as have multiples more but I’d suggest it won’t be long before they can’t field working ones in meaningful numbers.

I can’t believe people are still naively parroting the Kremlin talking point of nato membership being some sort of existential threat to mother Russia. There was no direct threat, neither from Ukraine being a member nor the three other countries already on their border that are members. It would be a threat for one thing, to what they are doing right now, actually invading! They know full well Nato would never attack Russia.

I think they should take the deal, people keep making claims how the Russians are finished and how Ukraine have pretty much won now but they have been saying it for atleast a week. If anything Russia has made more ground.

Zelensky should take the deal, end the war so it allows the Ukrainian people to go home.

I mean WTF unless that is just for domestic consumption in Russia it's total BS if they expect any actual disarmament.

I aint angry. I just think that Ukraine should stand their ground. Not roll over like you want them to do. Fight the evil, mentally disturbed aggressor, not run like you are wanting.

Stop typing man, it's embarrassing. The point being made is that it's very easy to sit on the side lines telling other people to fight, when the reality is people are going through hell, children are dying, men and women are dying, the one's who are living are having their lives destroyed. If you feel so strongly then yes, go and fight yourself, don't sit telling others they should though. Ukraine and Russia should end the war as soon as possible, for both sides and the world.

Well they are not part of NATO anyway and the demilitarize is the one part where they don't agree.
It's a deal getting made, they don't have to concede to all demands.

Also with all these sanctions, it will take a while for Russia to recover.

I wanted Ukraine to agree not to join NATO to avoid the war.

They did, Putin invaded and officially annexed Crimea while unofficially annexing Donbas/Luhansk, that's what rekindled Ukraine's desires on NATO membership.

This was Putins original complaint and why he threatened Ukraine with military action.

He was lying, it was never about NATO.

You suggested that someone who thought Ukrain should fight were only doing so because they don't have to risk their own lives, and yet you agree that Ukrainians should continue fighting whilst also not picking up your own gun and joining the fight.
