Trusts don't really change ownership - if he/his family are the sole beneficiary then there is a direct link of ownership of the property

That's not how it works though.

Company A owns the asset, and is setup in one country, Company B owns company A, setup in another jurisdiction, A trust is then setup in another jurisdiction for the benefit of company C which is partly owned by the other two, and again based elsewhere.

Caymen Islands, Bermuda, Panama, Nevada etc.. seem to be decent places for this type of stuff.

Yes they do want war. If they were genuinely passionate about opposing the war, they'd brave the authorities and protest anyway, like people do in other oppressive nations. The incredibly low turnout reflects strong Russian support for the war.

Its not a war and you can be thrown in jail for suggesting it its a "special limited operation" to flush out nazis and protect the innocent russians being oppressed in the east of ukraine. No civililians are being killed and no cities are being attacked by russian forces anything you hear to the contrary is blatant lies and propaganda put out by evil nazis in power in ukraine. Support the russian forces fighting heroically and bless our president.

This information was brought to you the russian citizenry courtesy of russian state broadcasting.

Too many POW's?

Well if they don't want to kill them I guess they could maim them to ensure they won't be getting back into the fight at later date, but I suspect that's also too much effort.
If I was a Ukranian seeing my country invaded and turned to rubble and civilians slaughtered I wouldn't be too concerned about taking PoW's tbh.

That's why the proceeds of crime laws and the new one are worded such that it doesn't have to be in someone's name - complicated structures are irrelevant if they can find even the slimmest evidence that the sanctioned person or their family are the main beneficiary if such an arrangement, and they can't rent out or sell the property until they declare who the beneficiary is (which can't be a company name)

yea and the news source is ukraine, confirmed by ukraine, straight out of kyiv.

I don't get why people think it's any less biased than RT but lap up everything they ever say as gospel.

How much foreign made components does Russia really use on it's tanks? surely they aren't that stupid

For the non-export specs Russia actually uses quite a lot of Western sourced components for a lot of their military hardware - some of that can be replaced (after a delay) by domestic produced hardware, some of it like advanced semiconductors they can't.

Sadly a similar story around much of the world - money talks - and there has been a lot of complacency in recent years when it comes to the security situation if foreign connections are cut off - that also goes for things like food security, etc.

If you want the enemy to surrender, surrender (and subsequent treatment of POW's) needs to be more palitable than fighting to the death.

You might be the one surrendering.
Weird as it may seem sometimes you lose.
Pressing load saved game doesn’t work.
Better hope taking POWs isn’t a thing that’s too much effort.

You do know all Russians don't look like the typical person you see on TV in Moscow. It spans across Europe to Asia and is naturally diverse because of it.

It is difficult sometimes to comprehend the sheer scale of Russia - it is 68x larger than the UK in land area.

Every time I look at that map I think it's amazing that Mariupol is still holding on, it must be incredibly grim there.

it must be incredibly grim there.

Sadly that is the impression I get.

The defence of Mariupol and Kharkiv have been surprisingly tenacious - but I don't think they have the supplies to hold out many more days. Unfortunately looks like the Russians are starting to backfill some of the losses as well though still struggling with logistics.
