I must be the only person around who doesn't have a problem with window management in MacOS :D I have never used a 3rd party tool either. Didn't they make a change a few years back where apps remember your window size? I know I never have to resize my browser. I do tend to have far too many terminals open though, instead of using tmux as I should.

Data engineering. A lot of terminal, Docker, Python (VSCode), various web tools via the browser, so having windows next to each other and easily swapping between them is useful. Not to mention having email, Teams, etc. in the background. Keyboard navigation is so much faster.

To be clear, I don't use Windows for development, although with WSL and VSCode integration it's much better than it used to be. Mapping paths and all that is a bit of a pain and it's a resource hog.

I think that's a big/dated misconception about Linux. Yes, there are flavours, but just use Fedora, which is upstream of RHEL, which is hugely popular in the server (Amazon Linux is based on RHEL) world and well funded. It's supported everywhere and you can either download an RPM (EXE, DMG) or run DNF (similar to Homebrew), to install software. The default DE, Gnome, has dynamic workspaces and window management. Drop-down terminal is great (got this working with iTerm of macOS), Docker doesn't need half my memory to just exist.

But again, I understand that it isn't geared towards developers, and if you've only know Windows and macOS, I can understand why you'd stick to a Mac.

I do a lot of Linux system management through SCP and SSH and also work with Homebrew and other things. Docker is fine for me as well. I used to use OpenSUSE Tumbleweed but I found having everything working together well is very important.

I like the thought of midnight but I fear it will be a finger print magnet.

Any word on the date of pre-orders going live?

Midnight for sure. I'll buy the Apple cloth to get rid of fingerprints :P.

I wondered. I don’t see it as a big deal if you’re not a clumsy oaf :D

Very tempted by an M2 Air. Absolutely do not “need” one but I might get one anyway.
