Interesting discussion on r4pm that CIA seem to believe Putin maybe physically(illness) unable to fulfill the role of president in 3-6months,
so would be replaced by a stronger candidate - sounds reminscent of Hitler where allies were trying to determine medication & illnesses he had.

Stronger doesn't mean better

So it's now illegal in Russia to post or talk about Russian casualties as it's now under 'state secret'
Few that had memorial walls online etc have decided to stop and take them down before they get arrested now .

Shows how badly their casualty figures must be.

I can't verify it but reports that for instance by the 1st of June the Russian 38th and 64th motorised brigades were down to less than 100 combat capable/ready infantry out of the ~700 deployed and some brigades were racking up 500 casualties in as little as 72 hours of fighting. From some of the footage I've seen though Ukrainian losses have been pretty high as well - a lot of this is turning into WW1 style grinding.

It's not a difficult concept to grasp. I doubt they they were targeting civilians. I think they were targeting military target and some and in some cases all shells hit civilians because bombardment is not exactly a hard science. In any case we obviously can't say one way or the other so perhaps my view is wrong but i just cannot see any reason for the Russian military to specifically target civilians. I can believe their lack of care about collateral but that's not the same thing is it.

So as I was saying - intent. Assuming this is from Russian missile or a Russian airplane then I doubt they intended to shoot something expensive at a flat. I assume they were targeting important military infrastructure or military targets nearby.

Aged like milk?

Reports of soviet munitions are running out for artillery not looking good.
Apparently it's not just rockets either, we really need to up the number and quality of weapons we are providing or Russia will win this attritional war, thier stockpiles of basic munitions must be humongous compared to the west.

Part of me thinks we don't want to send them better weapons incase China gets hold of anything.

Ah, the same poster who fell for the Russian propaganda "security concerns" re: Ukraine and NATO.

I think also a lot of people are missing that this is not Putin, this is Russian foreign policy, point being that if Putin is replaced eventually it will not change legitimate national security concerns of Russia. It is not that Putin wants Ukraine, it is that Russia as a state has fundamental interest in Ukraine not being under external influence, whether this is achieved through soft power diplomatically or militarily.

On the other hand I see this is Europe's issue and not UK's. Following Brexit, the UK did a full on pivot on the US and as such I believe the UK has no drawback from pushing Russia away from Europe. It is only Europe that will be affected.

This is pure imperialist expansion, there wasn't any legitimate security concern here, two far more powerful neighbours are in the process of joining NATO now as a result. The NATO/security concerns angle was the excuse Russia pushed externally, the Nazi angle is the excuse they've pushed domestically.

Russia just casually pulls more artillery out of storage https://twitter.com/expatua/status/1534231268803727362 even if 1/3rd of it is probably in very poor state they'll just keep it coming.

If Ukraine doesn't get proper supplies of heavy weapons in the next month situation is going to become very difficult.

Unfortunately it seems the US is doing just enough to keep things in some kind of equilibrium and other countries aren't delivering even close on what they are talking.

Germany apparently now saying that some promised mlrs deliveries won't commence until winter due to requiring software updates as they are incompatible with US/UK rockets!

Germany are really taking the p*ss with this, it's like they make these offers, but delay them long enough for Russia to act and gain ground or something.

The large core EU nations are really dragging thier heels.
We are about to scrap half our tank fleet, why the hell not just give them to Ukraine asap to train on?

We give them better systems and we could potentially break this bloody modern day ww1 trench warfare that's going on.

Germany are pathetic, their dependence on Russia for energy and then they drag their feat on Aid.
If and when Ukraine succeeds and Russia is driven back if this continues this lack of action needs reflecting on.

Even windows millenium software updates did not take half a year. Who'd a thought that Germany was the weak link in Europe. All that money and not a pot to **** in militarily. Maybe they could send a couple of thousand BMW, Audi or Mercedes saloons as troop transports which they could trade in for weapons.

So as expected the axis is shfiting to russia / india/china as the grouping. I wonder where Israel will sit on this?

If this hots up things will not go well for India. I almost feel sorry for them they have no idea what they are walking into if they continue the current path and things do escalate.

So when are Nato going to actually start threatening Russia? Saying that this is getting out of hand might be a slight understatement but the effect that this war is having on the world is beginning to effect everyone so negatively that we may as well get in there and sort this fool out. If Indian and China want to stand by Russia then take them out too.

Anecdotal evidence ... but I work for a heavily Israeli dominated company and the mood I'm getting is they are well and truly hacked off with Russia, but largely keeping schtum due to the large diaspora still in Russia (and Ukraine). The Kremlin narrative of "blame the nazis" can so easily switch to "blame the jews" and they don't want to end up there.
