catching up today ... so there is no grand reveal of how it can be done
it was difficult to appreciate the lack of friction on the foot slope from tv pictures.

I'm sure the competitors won't fall for the single finger of each of hand on final hold will do, ploy, again ..
e: well maybe some saw what the others did.

e2: Trust in the force ... can't find pictures but we had spent a day doing some friction slabs with long run-outs on L.como, ours was above peripheral road

Finally getting round to doing Snowdon this coming Bank Holiday weekend, any must do things around there as I never really been to Wales before so not familiar with the area?
 
Lots of nice hills to walk on obviously :p.

Depending on tastes there's the Ffestiniog railway, zip world (bounce below - underground trampoline things! Also think they have a slate quarry exploration thing with an underground zip line), some nice beaches on the coast (especially if you go over to Anglesey).

Will be very busy on a Bank Holiday weekend though. Make sure you get to wherever you're starting your trip up Snowdon from nice and early.

What do you like doing? The walk up Snowdon will be absolutely heaving on bank holiday weekend, be warned. Maybe go up from Rhydd Du and the South Ridge to avoid some of the crowds.

Personally if I wanted to go to Snowdonia over Bank hols I'd look at avoiding the popular spots, go up the Carneddau from Ogwen or something where it'll be a bit quieter (still busy mind).

All the roads and parking will be a complete nightmare so get up as early as you can manage.
 
Went up Roseberry Topping (North York Moors) yesterday with my 3 year old nephew was his first hill bagged.

Met a guy near the top said it was his 2nd time at the top, he said its a bit tough when you are almost forty, I replied try it when you are almost sixty like me !

Was a good walk, nephew now wants to do another one - think he has the outdoor bug already.
 
Got my three year old up Pendle Hill without much fuss, it was coming down he wasn't keen on oddly. I really miss get up in the mountains. With a nearly 4 and 1 year old it's tough, plus I have a focus on running too.

I do fancy getting a cheapish tent for some mild wild camping with the 4 year old, but don't feel he'll appreciate it too much just yet.

Age means naff all though. 14 people in the V70 category finished the Lakeland 50 (49 miles, 9728ft ascent) inside the 24 hour cut off, 1 did the 100 in 35 hours.

Checkout the Lanshan 2 or Lanshan 2 Pro, double and singled walled tents, respectively. They're fantastic tents and at the friendly end of the ultralight gear range. Obviously can get lighter tents, but expect to pay a lot more. Cheaper on Aliexpres if you don't mind the wait.
 
still catching up ... photography on the european championships has been fantastic with the close-ups / slow-mos don't remember this standard in china;
for lead-climb they should perhaps have had an inset shot showing side profile and close-ups at the same time
the padded landing for bouldering looks more accomodating than most gyms I've seen.
I understand GenZ binge watching addiction, now.

with the venue/ambiance must have been like that for the gladiators entering the colliseum.

is Windermere restored to it's natural beauty for upcoming bank holiday - that is definitely one for the water companies to sort out, & it would be sad to see it first hand.
 
caught up with mens lead final - less enjoyable than semi-final ... felt rather pedestrian, like they shared so much beta that there wasn't much variation of strategies,
they should provide them with a second attempt and limit the maximum time for these attempts,
( or allow to re-join the wall, like in my non-overhanging real world)
 
Am a right in thinking a few of you guys had said that Merrell had gone downhill from a quality point of view?

I'm after some barefoot style shoes for holiday and keep avoiding more Vivobarefoot options as don't really want to spend £130 on them. Merrell seem better priced but i have a niggly feeling people in here have been disappointed.
 
I chucked a pair of Merrell’s in the bin because the quality of stitching was poor to the point it was causing blisters. Not what you want on a walking shoe.
