Latifi is completely wasting that seat. As someone said earlier in one post here, he's almost hiding how much of a jump in performance Williams have made with the car.

I've defended Latifi in previous seasons. He's not been amazing, but he's been a safe lower midfielder. Nothing wrong with that in a backmarker team. But this season? Awful in the first part, dismal from there. Even so, I don't think it's Latifi making De Vries look good today. He matched Albon's best finish of the season in a car he got just one practice session in before quali. Amazing work.

(That said: he's been summoned by the Stewards, so fingers crossed).

Yeah, De Vries and Zhou to being given a talking to for erratic driving?
I hope nothing comes of it.

Edit: He comes across very good in this interview with Sky. Would be good to see him alongside Albon next year.

An FIA spokesperson said: "While every effort was made to recover Car 3 [Ricciardo] quickly and resume racing, the situation developed and marshals were unable to put the car into neutral and push it into the escape road.

"As the safety of the recovery operation is our only priority, and the incident was not significant enough to require a red flag, the race ended under safety car following the procedures agreed between the FIA and all Competitors.

"The timing of the safety car period within a race has no bearing on this procedure."

Why can’t that just red flag it and have a three lap sprint from the grid .
The way I see it, you wouldn't expect that if it was lap 10 in that instance, so you're just bending things to make a 'fun finish', which worked out great last time they did that...
**EDIT**
"The timing of the safety car period within a race has no bearing on this procedure."
Exactly.

which worked out great last time they did that...
But the result would have been different because everyone (ie Mercedes’) would have known that was the protocol.

I think it would suck because it just means you’ve wasted an hour watching a race that’ll have next to no bearing on the result once everyone pits for softs and a 3 lap sprint. It’d be more interesting if it has to be red flagged but you can’t change tyres? Maybe? Everyone has to see out their strategy?
