I reckon the dip in horsepower is more than accounted for by the modern gearbox.
The 8 speed ZF is very, very good. Quick to shift and very smooth too.I reckon the dip in horsepower is more than accounted for by the modern gearbox.
I went from a remapped 320i to a 428i and then a 440i... definitely can tell the difference between each engine jumpWhen I was looking at 4 series Gran coupes I test drove a 420i and it felt no faster than my previous Mk 3 Focus 182 Ecoboost. Not surprising as although they have around 190HP there’s easily another 200-300lbs to carry. That’s why I looked for a 428i instead.
Yes indeed. Can hit 50mpg on my daily commute! You should also try a 340i that would be my pick, superb engine and can be surprisingly economical.

Not a bad price (at the moment..) and its a 440i. Would much rather a Petrol to be fair.
Plus its blue! Love a blue car. Hence why my MPS is wrapped in blue.
100% don't.If you don't need the additional range and efficiency of the diesel - remember the price differential between petrol and diesel is currently large as well - then this will be a much more fun car than any 435d.
I am surprised they are available for under £20k - good to see that they are.
Why on earth why you looking at a diesel?I'm doing 2 miles each way... and then probably dozen or so miles at the weekend. Possibly a 20mile each way stint mid week for work bits.
Not sure really. Why on earth why you looking at a diesel?
Nice
Looks like it has the M-Sport Plus pack optioned - upgraded 20" wheels, Sun protection rear glass and HK Audio.
Which is fine. It’s at Sytner Select, not Sytner BMW, which usually means it’s not full service history.
Which is fine.
But, is this gap so much of an issue?
Some places show 10k miles 12months and some show 24k and 2years... if its the latter, then its under mileage for the service, but over the time. Much less of an issue.
