I wouldn’t be surprised, or perhaps they provided Ukraine with the means.

Or perhaps Russia did it themselves so they could use it as a reason for taking out the other pipelines completely taking out europes gas.

Surely there must be one person in Russia who has had enough and will try to assassinate Putin somehow, would end up dead as well but at least be remembered for bringing him down and saving Ukraine/ROTW..

Would be simplest way to stop all this. He's just too crazy.

I'm not convinced its aimed at Ukraine so much as the West and the US in particular they know the ukranians won't recognise the annexation or anything else and will fight on regardless Putins trying to spook the US he knows the US is reluctant to allow its weapons to be used on its soil so by effectively moving the border westwards he's drawing a line in the sand with a sign saying "Keep Out". At the very least it'll make Biden think twice or at least buy time to get more conscript boots on ukranian soil and without NATO weapons they're considerably reduced. He'll also think it allows russia to do whatever it likes within what it regards as its own territory including tactical nukes.

Well I hope they get taken out before they get to the front, because even an idiot can put a bullet in a Ukranian soldier (or civilian)

Nobody is recognising the new 'border'. It is a line drawn internally in a sovereign state. It doesn't fly.

Just need to find someone close enough to Putrid that's happy to sacrifice their family and extended family, and subject themselves to unpleasant death.

The nuclear talk is clear desperation. I just can't see how if he used one (with justification of "our land was invaded" ) what the west could do that WOULDN'T

A) escalate it
B) come across as weak

I feel China need to pick a side

Hard to know what reactions would be tbh. A Nuclear reaction would quite unlikely, we'd end up as frazzled bacon. Once them things start flying about it's just grim even discussing it.

The would have to do it first, in Ukraine, then the west would have some difficult decisions to make, because if he gets away with one...

That's what I mean. But what else could be done? The west is backed into a corner. And putin has backed himself into a corner.

How does this entire conflict get resolved? Only way I can see it is if he gets some land. Stops. We let him have his "contested land".
Rest of Ukraine joins nato.

He has his win. Cold War is in effect. Ukraine is partly sacrificed. Nuclear war averted.
Its then explicit what happens if any more fighting happens.
