The Liverpool Club Thread. **No Spoilers**

The £100m price tag is not the problem for Bellingham, it's the possibility that Chelsea, City, Madrid and Barcelona will also come for him and therefore having to match/beat them at wages which we won't be able to do. We're not going to offer him £400k a week in wages, some other clubs will.

I also agree that while he's a target and someone we would want, he's not our number one priority. We would want to sign one or even two highly mobile, quick and combative ball winning midfielders who can press and win the ball and pass them to our more creative players. That will be a higher priority than Bellingham.

I'm sure the South America guy that broke Diaz before anyone else said we were looking very hard at Caicedo with a view to signing him next summer

Diaz is a big loss. One of only a few bright sparks this season for Liverpool. Losing him and Trent could be a big blow.

I actually think it's good for Trent to sit out for a couple of weeks. It clearly wasn't working for him (for whatever reason, even if not entirely his fault). Gomez at RB would be rock solid defensively so it's probably the better option right now anyway. I just hope we won't see Milner at RB.

Trent needs to put himself back together mentally and come back with a clear head.

Konate would start ahead of Matip if both are fully fit but we need the backup if Gomez is needed at right back.

We have 10 games in 31 days. It's going to be very very tough after losing these three.

Don’t know why Robbo finds that so funny. It’s not out the question by any means.

I thought it was meant in jest initially, Arsenal are not going to be a serious contender for the likes of Bellingham. Not only for financial reasons, but they aren't a competitive side yet either. They've started the season well but we're only 9 games in...

What's up with Salah at the moment? Just a product of the way the team is playing at the moment or something else? I don't recall him running in behind once at the weekend and i don't think he even managed to beat a man. Massive drop off from last season regardless. He's not doing an Auba is he?

He wasn't good in the second half of last season either. His big drop off came after returning from AFCON.

It's been an issue all season. As soon as we decided to sign a proper centre forward I questioned how we'd get the best out of a centre forward and Salah in the same team. Although he's always played on the right, in reality he's been our main striker with whoever playing central creating room for Salah to make those runs from the right. I'm not sure if it's by design or not but he's staying a lot wider this season.

Diaz's injury will probably spell the end of it but I really don't like the 4-2-3-1/4-4-2 system with Salah wide - he's not a midfielder, he's a forward and although he always works hard, he's never going to give the defensive protection that the fullback needs and you're limiting what he can do going forward.

It's not simply a matter of form. His game has always been about making diagonals runs into the box from the right hand side but he's a lot wider this season.

Agreed but I think the reason we're happy to move him around to accommodate others is because of his drop off in form rather than the other way around. The 1 goal per game Salah wouldn't be pushed further wide to accommodate different styles or other players.

The 4-2-3-1/4-4-2 experiment is most probably over. We may see a 4-4-2 diamond though with Salah/Nunez up front and Jota just behind.

Form and fatigue would be my guess.

Klopp likes having a small squad, we usually play high intensity football and we've just finished a 63 game season. Those three factors result in injuries and what looks like collective fatigue. It's no surprise to see the likes of Jota, Tsimikas, Diaz and Nunez all looking far fresher than their teammates given they've all played far less football under Klopp.

I'm not 100% sure it's as simple as that. We've tried to find a system that gets the most out of Salah while allowing for a centre forward to be a centre forward and it's all linked back into the whole Trent/Elliott thing on the right hand side. Elliott was meant to provide the width, allowing Salah to play more central and Trent was meant to pop up in a 8/10 position in midfield, that Firmino would often drop into - it's just been not worked and killed us defensively.

I'm not sure we're going to see a diamond moving forwards, certainly while Trent is out. I suspect we'll go back to a 4-3-3 with Jota from the left.
