A Plague Tale: Innocence

Decided to suck it up and play at 30fps so I could turn up the graphics/resolution a bit. My god, this game is beautiful. It must be glorious at max settings. Just done chapter 5, that was so epic.

Even on lower settings it looks brilliant for those who need to lower stuff. I could never put up with 30fps sadly!

90% of the time I'd be in agreement, but it feels sacrilegious to play with such low settings giving the game a blurry look. It instantly came alive when I bumped up the resolution a bit more, probably managing 1440p at 30fps now. And it's a pretty slow-paced game so we're not talking Doom Eternal here where 30fps would be hideous.

Hmm that's true enough, I assume you're playing with a controller? I always play with mouse and keyboard hence why 30fps inherently feels slow to me.

By running all on HIGH instead of ultra and capping it to 70fps the temps have come down from 90 to 80 however, it still chugs at times from 70 down to 45. Not sure which settings to change while keeping it looking amazing!

Very demanding game

I have it on ultra and my word does the GPU get hot, sits around 76 celcius.

This game looks fantastic! ;) Art direction especially is outstanding. :D

It's also very easy to spend hours on...that's the big downside you need a lot of time to sink into it! Great game though an alltime classic even perhaps

It is pretty heavy on the GPU, but I'm just so glad that finally the upgrade from a 2070 Super to 3080 Ti is paying off, all these recent games and I am able to play with maximum everything at native res, granted games like Cyberpunk don't quite beat the 100fps mark even with DLSS, but over 60fps was the dream with Psycho RT in that game and I have that now lol.

Also read some funny stuff on PH :D

Yep I'm going to get a 3080, but only have around 300-400 to spend! 2070 Super is an awesome card but games like this I want the best :p

Its a great looking game but the actual game is a bit weak. Most encounters can just be skipped by running to the door and there is always a chest that refills with everything you need right next to each puzzle.

I'm on a 3080ti as well but using the C2 for it. I'm loving the UW screenshots though, the whole set from La Cuna looked incredible(as it did here but having that wider frame looks great). The change from dark, fireladen pits to bright and beautiful island paradises is just awe inspiring at times. Tempted to setup a custom UW res and have a go at the game in that.

On my NG+ run and playing a lot more 'kill everything' this time around which is a lot of fun from my usual playstyle. I've always gotta be sneaky first time around. Only a few chapters in but it's a lot more freeing of a way to play, should try it more often!

Edit: Have setup custom res and this is now I am playing all of the more 'cinematic' games. Just something about it, goddamn it looks good.

I feel that most encounters are meant to be skipped, you're supposed to stealth your way around them.

This game is purely for the narrative and the looks.

Well, if you get a couple of hundred for your 2070S, plus your 300-400, that comfortably gets you a 3080 on the MM, going by recent sales.

It does suffer from some of the same issues as Innocence, in that you are punished for not precisely following the "set" path, as an example, in Innocence , in the penultimate level in the castle, where you have to go round the central area of rats to get to a ladder, I didnt take the set route to the ladder... instead I made my own route through the rats to the ladder but found that when I reached the ladder I then wasnt able to climb the ladder because it wouldnt let me because I hadnt followed the "expected" route to the ladder. So in effect I was sort of punished for thinking outside the box.

I suppose it does sort of have that tech demo like feel to it sort of like Ryse son of Rome? The story is very good though I feel.

Yeah the story is very good but I guess its that "you must solve the puzzles in this way otherwise you cannot continue" aspect which makes some people view the game as almost a walking simulator where you sometimes press E
