The "Top Gear", Season 24/25/26 thread

‘Range-wise, both share the same batteries, which range from 105kW to 180kW.’

Wish they could get SI units right

I looked at the T1R at goodwood. What surprised me was the rear leg room being a lot less than you would have thought for a car if it’s size.

If that comment is aimed at my link ?

1) Charlotte - probably a girl
2) it's one of thousands of links confirming Rivian is coming to the UK

Yes, response to and directly targeting the credibility - I will quote next time to make my 'aim' more obvious.

Nothing to suggest the R1S and R1T are going to be engineered for UK/EU homologation - for a start to meet pedestrian requirements they dont have in the states, the risk of a 3.5t GVM means you need a HVG license to drive it too. I still not sure if it every will (more chance than the Cybertruck thats for sure). Cant see it and thats just some fleet news website.
The UK production for Rivian is more centred around the van but with Ford offloading stock they are in a bit of mess frankly.

But a link to a new site to counter the point the BBC make is okay yeah? Glad to proved thats not the case, but come on.

I thought the topic of old sub £500 cars was interesting, but they totally missed the mark with the tank proving ground and racing around a scrapyard - who cares?

The sub £500 section could have been a good way of opening peoples eyes to relative bargains to be had in these tough times, instead, they simply threw the cars around a course that would have challenged brand new cars never mind those end of lifetime vehicles which, with a bit of tlc, would have I’m sure lasted a while longer…

I know TG is supposed to be entertainment rather than informative but, I think it’s gone way too far in trying to entertain and missing the point by a long way…

Until they stop trying to emulate the old crew which I think they still are, it’s doomed to fail.

Buying scrap heap cars for £500 is silly.

Those cars were days away from their MOT expiring, almost definitely having already failed one with large bills. The prices were basically their scrap value.

Haven't watched the episode but that screenshot looks a bit like an mr2 with a body kit - probably wrong though.

Probably was an actual diablo - the scrapyard mentioned was described as one of the largest vehicle dismantlers in Europe.
Presumably it's a cat B only for parts, or may have been seized and ordered to be crushed etc

I think it misses a lot of the reasons people buy a vehicle like that, few are going to buy it as a workhorse and at least half the rest of the pickup market tends to go for something "murdered out" looking with a decent bit of engine noise and an interior which while nice looking does need a bit of rough and ready to it.

(Not to mention at that weight once you add a couple of people in you'd need a category C of some sort on your license to legally carry anything in the back)

You know when that girl took paddy drifting... did they speed up the footage?

Looked quite normal to me, a pro drifter generally does look sped up haha.

Enjoyed that first episode, hopefully the rest will be as good or better. :)

Decent start to the series, I do wonder how much different it would've been if Flintoff joined them all the way through, felt less 'lads lads lads' on holiday without him being there.

The Rimac was astonishing to watch, what an electric vehicle can do.

Is the Rimac basically what the Lotus Evija is, as I think I remember Lotus saying that was 500HP per wheel.

Pretty much, Chris Harris mentioned a motor on each wheel giving it a total of 2000bhp. The 'afterparty' mode to 4 wheel drift looked fun for the 1 drift he managed to do before the tyre gave up.

500HP per wheel with huge instant torque is a recipe for destroying tyres in seconds for sure.

impressive, wondered what it's power to weight ratio was versus the rimac - was it the lady who'd previously done a Taycan drifting add/video.
maybe I missed the Rimac actually turning a corner, but it's/the straightline/runway launches become a bit of a repetitive element.

That 300ZX drift car was nothing on the Rimac!...

In terms of the comparison. Indeed, comedy price too, I guess the Avendator is somewhat of a final hero of the pure NA V12 super/hyper era facing off to a new storm on the Mediterranean coast. Interesting from only Googling today to realise the Rimac at 120kWh pack is somewhat bigger than the Evija 90kWh.

Looking forward to next week regardless.
